2025 Ben Hanks Jr 4* CB from Booker T Commits to the Gator

We all know how this goes. Someone has to take the blame according to Cane fans, although it was never some big secret, the kid said he would possibly visit, he’s openly visited Miami twice this season, and his name was on the list they circulate for this weekend.

I’ve already clearly stated how these things go as well. Some kids show up that were never even on the list, names get added through reaching out to some prospects, and some don’t show up that were on the list. A great example is Tim Merritt now being expected in for tomorrows game, he didn’t come to the Duke game as planned, and he wasn’t on the original list for Wake Forest.

It wasn’t a secret visit though. People are funny.
They act like you were the only one reporting Hanks was visiting Miami…

When in fact he was on the list that was distributed as visitors

Brian Blades II isn’t Ben Hanks but he could play here. Instead he’s at FIU. The Karlaftis kid was a 1st rounder and went to Purdue.

Ray Lewis’ kid sucked, Al Blades Jr was mid, Davonte Brown was horrible. Didn’t even recruit McGahee’s. Didn’t recruit Frank Gore Jr but he could have played here. Didn’t recruit Gabe Taylor and he could have played here (not Sean’s son but his brother, so basically a legacy). Think I’m missing another one playing at a small school right now too that we didn’t recruit.

It’ll turn for us in the coming years… Banking on Damari being good and better land Wise’s kid in 2026. **** I’d take Brian Blades II if he wants to transfer. Portis in 2026. Then Glue hands Jr and DVD Jr coming up next.
RUSSELL MARYLANDS SON would play here as well...hes at smu

We’re going to whiff on both Hanks and Pickett. The CBs we do have committed are either meh or on IR even before stepping on campus. Merritt probably flipping to Tennessee and you know how our DB portal recruiting has been, abysmal. We’re destined to field another secondary filled with Vandy castoffs and 5’10 dBs that run 4.9s.
Man that was perfect.

If Merritt actually sticks, he’s the best DB in this class.
It’s been kinda strange to see recruiting vets that still can’t accept Mario is built different saying he’s been gone for months

Not you of course but some people are still stuck in the past

Merritt and Antoine is a great duo. Somehow flip a Pickett/Hanks type (or BOFE) and we are fuggin fuggin

Eden James was at Howard last I knew but tbh have not been following his tract. Also back would be a tough spot to fill here currently.

As for Frank Jr., at the time he came out, not so much, definitely could have played here and the Manny grand scheme of things ****show aside, our line was better than Southern Miss’s.

I am super impressed by all of our DB commits. The only reason we're whining right now is because of how bad our current DB room looks. Without even one more add, this DB class is among the best we've ever had on paper in decades. We'd be ecstatic if we got 1 or 2 4-star DBs under Golden, Richt or Manny. Land Hanks and/or Pickett, and the class is epic.

Miss? We’ve already missed. They are as you already know committed elsewhere. Now can we flip. That is the question, but we most certainly already missed.
No, not really accurate. Sure sometimes it is a 100% miss. Other times, the only way to land the big fish at the end is to let them swim on their own a little bit. For many years Alabama flipped dudes at the very end. Took what they wanted on signing day. They hadn’t “missed” up until that point. It’s not checkers bud.

Justin Scott flipped on the 29th last year. I’m not positive if we do that again but that window of time seems to make a lot of sense with everyone having a good handle on NIL as they get close to the finish

I expect some fireworks hope it’s in the DB room

Mario can't close. We're getting trolled by Pickett and Hanks. Merritt is going to flip to Auburn or another SEC school. Antoine will flip or never recover from his injury. Ewald is slower than Josh Sanguinetti not a take. Amari Wallace is tinier than Avante Samuel not a take.

How'd I do?

Don’t forget Stubbs is having a subpar senior season. LGC!!

And at the time Scott's flip, the recruiting class as a whole was well well below expectations. Following his flip, UM went on a run. Cristobal has earned the benefit of the doubt in terms of recruiting. The staff isn't going to land every major target and this year, and we have an uphill battle with regard to legacy recruits that have been prioritized. Nonetheless, I expect a strong finish and similar to the DL position last year, hopefully the DB position gets an infusion of talent.
