Question, if Golden went 6-6 in his 4th year, as opposed to his 2nd, would you say the same thing?Would you play here? Put aside any bias towards being a fan,and honestly step back and look. 6-6 last year, 5-5 this year. Why would anyone want to play here?
hopefully he wouldnt be here if we went 6-6 in year 4. That question would take care of itself with his resignation/firing. But....Yes. I would.
Here's what the best coach in America, one considered a defensive genius, did in his first four years at MSU:
1995–1997 – Beginning in 1995, Saban moderately improved MSU's fortunes, taking the Spartans to minor bowl games (all of which they lost by double-digit margins) in each of his first three seasons. From 1995 to 1997, Michigan State finished 6–5–1, 6–6, and 7–5. In comparison, MSU had finished 5–6, 6–6 and 5–6 (prior to NCAA forfeits) in 1992–1994.
1998 – On November 7, 1998, the Spartans upset the No. 1 ranked Ohio State 28–24 at Ohio Stadium. However, even after the upset and an early-season rout of then-highly-ranked Notre Dame the Spartans finished 6–6, including three last-minute losses featuring turnovers, defensive lapses, and special-teams misplays, and failed to earn a bowl invitation.
Les Miles went 7-5 in year four at OSU.
Wonder what happened?
What happened is he left for LSU. He wasn't good at MSU. But he showed promise at a school that didnt have the same resources as others in thebig 10. Golden has resources here. He's not winning. And LOL @ you for comparing Saban to Golden. Come on bro
Michigan State has more resources than Miami....their athletic budget is huge. They are a big public school and Miami is a small private school.
