Beckham's New Miami MLS Stadium Site

Setting yourself up for major disappoint if you think there is a chance at this location. You're all essentially debating traffic logistics for an MLS game not a Canes game.

I like it.. but here are some minor suggestions.. just sayin

This. All day long.

Hypothetically tailgating could be done at Bayfront, they handle Red Bull Flutag without a problem, although it certainly wouldn't be your traditional tailgate.

However the traffic will be an absolute nightmare, it's a nightmare for Heat games and unless Miami plays nooners all year long, it'll be a nightmare for Canes games there too.

It's just an unrealistic option.

This is the best opportunity for the University of Miami to solve the stadium issue once and for all. A downtown stadium will inject a tremendous buzz into the program and school. It will help in recruiting, be easier for the students to attend (and safer with the metro rail), give us a home field advantage we haven't had since leaving the OB and improve the fan experience. It is time for the University to step up, stop being cheap and get this done.

You donating a couple hundred million to the athletic department to help the university to "stop being cheap"? You got a couple acres of land to give to the school for free in downtown Miami?

this **** aint for no miami football. from what i seen somewhere the stadium going to be about 25k.

This design doesn't look like a 40k stadium or the possibility of it being a 40k stadium. I think any hopes of us moving w/ Beckham is pretty much a done deal.

It isn't even a real design. Its a rush job proposal for this particular site. The article in the Herald talks about the fact that this is nowhere near a final product.

that may be true, but the fact remains getting a 40k stadium in this area is going to be extremely tough. I can't see the design being too much different than what we are viewing currently.

Traffic getting to games will not be terrible and for the one big game a year traffic will be messy leaving. Tailgating will be interesting, not sure how it would work down there.

You can pretty much forget about any sort of serious tailgating happening if UM ends up playing at this location.

Oh yeah, and traffic will still be an absolute nightmare.

Are you kidding me? Have you been stuck in Downtown/Brickell traffic during rush hour or before a Heat game? It's a ****ing **** show.

Rush hour traffic for a noon game on a Saturday?

We've played Thursday night and Friday night games before, have we not?

Plus, there's always ****ing traffic in Miami. It doesn't matter if it's a weekday or the weekend.

Once a year maybe and you act like Miami traffic is LA or NY it's not that bad trust me.

The new design is only 20,000 per the Herald.

"Erecting a nearly 100-feet-tall, 20,000-seat stadium would dramatically alter existing plans for the park, which would be reconfigured to accommodate the structure next to AmericanAirlines Arena, hiding most of the green space behind the soccer stadium. But that would be for the better, said John Alschuler, Beckham’s real-estate advisor.:

I know we've gone back and forth about this and there is no need to do it again. But to answer the second question.

We had a ton of VACANT land (big enough for a stadium and parking) but the school valued something more than a stadium.

Lol.... We aren't leaving No Life anytime soon. 20+ left on contract

There is 18 and what is the buyout?

It is a **** shame that all these posters with access to the contract won't post it for us to review and look for ways out. But then again, all contracts are iron clad. Looks like SLS it is.

I know but these are great legal minds that can't be bothered with sharing those details.
