Somebody really needs to tell him it'll never work in Miami.
Soccer is now hipster i.e. Portland, Seattle etc.
 
So, what's next? The site next to the Miami River and Marlins Park?


I can't wait for the next drama: "Beckham group in talks to evict hundreds from public housing."


Gotta love it. Meanwhile, the Marlins billion dollar boondoggle sits 1/3 full.

move the **** to the nascar track in homestead and call it a day. We will play at Joe Robby for many many years to come (Im old school...fug that name changing ****. Also its Cutler Ridge NOT Cutler Bay)
 
Only way it happens is with UM involved. My guess is he gives up. They thought they had support.

Not sure he gives up. Maybe one of the soccer fans can chime in, but, way I understand it, he gets a sweetheart deal on the franchise fee for starting up an MLS team as part of his signing a contract with MLS way back when.

He will give up Miami not his sweetheart MLS deal. Look for his people to start looking at other cities

Wouldn't be surprised for a third MLS in NYC specially Brooklyn

Man, what a miserable city Miami is. It's impossible to get anything done. Corrupt, and full of so many committees and layers of government getting anything done without stuffing pockets is impossible.

A real banana republic. But what's new, it's been that way since the 80's.

And then you've got the miserable citizens of Miami, who are actually GLOATING that they're NOT gonna get a soccer team. Something that harms them and in no way helps them, they gloat about it.

Kind of like the idiots that gloat about Miami losing local recruits.

Miserable people in a miserable place. Miami would be a great city but for the ******* idiots that live there.

I like sports so I don't follow soccer but it'd be interesting to know if he does have a Plan B city as opposed to a Plan C site here. Kinda funny that the mayor was actually the one to suggest this site before now coming to some realization that he was opposed to it. Classic City of Miami government in action!

Mayor was probably just making a smoke screen to cover up the cruise line cash he got to kill the first site. I figure guy goes to a different city. He wants a hip site -- on water in Miami fits, land locked doesn't. I don't care about soccer anyway. I get my fill of flopping from NBA and non-contact action from Al's defensive scheme.
