Everyone who is upset that D'o hasn't been fired yet chill out and hold on, did you honestly think it was going to come immediately after the season? Only USC has made any kind of coaching moves, you know the team that fired their HC in early October.... The decision about D'os future has been made and will come near the bowl game, when every other team makes their personnel moves. If he isn't fired then, Al is keeping him, if not well we'll know. However it would be dumb for him to be fired now, would only distract the team before the bowl game without a clear candidate as coaching carousel wouldn't have begun. Also anyone in the NFL can't be brought in because their season is still running. Face it, hiring season for coordinators has not yet begun and it would be dumb to move so quickly, there's a reason no other team does. Other than USC (read:team that fired coach 2 months ago because he was that goddawful), only UCLA has made a move on a position coach which insignificant to the stability of the team.

I agree we really need to wait until January to see what happens. Like or not D'Onofrio did turn down the Temple head coaching job in 2010 to be Miami’s DC so Al Golden probably has some personal and professional loyalty to him. That is why if D’Onofrio leaves I doubt he is fired. I think Golden will let D’Onofrio find another job whether it is at another school or in the NFL so D'Onofrio can save face by not being fired. I believe that is what happened when Clint Hurtt left Miami for Louisville. So just because it happened this week doesn't mean D'Onofrio will be back next year.

I agree with you here, I'm amazed anyone thought a change was coming before the bowl game.

We could wait until after the bowl game. Or, we could email Doritos resume to Wake Forest and FAU... Hmm...

My patience is leaning towards option number 2 right now.

Honest question, do you care if D’Onofrio is fired or leaves for another job? Do you care when it happens? How it happens?

UCLA had a bowl. USC had a bowl.

USC is a tire fire and they just made a pretty mediocre hire, given their brand name.

Do you really want to model our program on UCLA? I'd rather model it on Alabama, and they wait until after bowl season / recruiting to make their moves.

I swore that Pat Nix was the worst coach I have ever seen, ever. I right up till Dorito showed up. Don't care how you get rid of him. Just do.

Saban would of fired Coach D's *** last year. Who have they fired after their bowl season?

Saban didn't fire him but he forced Major Applewhite out after a Bowl.

This bowl game stuff is nonsense and a ruse. Why does he need to stay through the bow game? So we can give up 800 yards to what will likely be a competent offensive team unlike the slugs that hung 500 on him every week?

Corch Al is supposed to be a defensive expert. He can certainly run the D for a lousy bowl game. Didn't Davis run the defense for the Sugar Bowl when Schiano left?

The reason Duh hasn't been "fired" is because he's not going to be "fired". He's going to "resign" in order to pursue his dream of corching LBs in the NFL. Corch Al is going to try to help his dopey buddy get another job, and firing/hiring season hasn't started in the NFL yet. They'll try their hardest to spin this as Duh wanting to pursue other options so that he doesn't have his best buddy's blood on his hands in public.

No, it was Chuck Pagano. But I agree with you. Golden is not going to fire the DC unless he is forced to do so.

Is that scenario that bad? D’Onofrio is gone, by next year which we all want. But he helps with the game planning and preparation for the bowl game. Golden and the rest of the staff are free to recruit the rest of the month of December without being a coach down for the bowl preparation.

Don't care how he leaves, just as long as he leaves.

Actually it is bad unless it's a package deal. Why? Because Al chose Mark to be his DC. He stood by for 3 years and watched his unit get raped week after week, offering not one clue in how to stop the pillaging. Al is part of the problem, not part of the solution IMO. Why should we trust him to make the right choice? Especially when Shalala will offer up only 2 shekels for pay grade.

Don't understand this argument at all. If D'onofrio was gonna go, he'd be gone already.
1. Why would you waste a month of bowl practice with a coach you know isn't going to be there?
2. D'onofrio is Al's best friend, if he was leaving he would want to give him as much time as possible to find a new job for next year.
3. Al would want a leg up finding a replacement.

Wish I was wrong.

There you go. One NFL head coach leaves, and another NFL coach hads the reigns to another NFL head coach. 4 NFL head coaches on one staff with a two other CFB head coaches.
