Rotation gets a boost
Miami added a proven performer to its rotation with the commitment of Hawaii RHP
Alex Giroux. Over the past two seasons, the Lake Oswego (OR) native has gone 11-5 with a 3.16 ERA, 118 Ks and 28 BBs over 122.3 innings. Despite average velocity, Giroux racks up outs by pounding the strike zone with a strong vertical approach angle (VAA).
In 2023, his ERA ranked 4th in the Big West conference and 32nd nationally. He joins RHP
Griffin Hugus, LHP
Rob Evans, RHP
Will Smith, RHP
Carson Fischer, RHP
Reese Lumpkin, RHP
Jackson Cleveland, C
Tanner Smith, OF/DH
Todd Hudson, OF
Max Galvin, UTL
Jake Ogden, OF
Bobby Marsh and OF
Derek Williams.
Canes impress in summer ball
The 2024 Canes sported one of the worst lineups in recent Canes memory, but help is on the way. UNC Greensboro transfer
Jake Ogden made the Cape Cod All-Star team after hitting four homers for the Harwich Mariners.
Ogden joins new teammate
Daniel Cuvet on the East All-Stars. Cuvet has hit 6 HRs with a .325/.387/.575 slash line. He also awed onlookers with a 477-foot home run, the longest of his career so far:
OF
Max Galvin, another future Cane, was named to the Northwoods All-Star team with 8 HRs and a .343/.412/.558 slash line. He will be participating in the Northwoods Home Run Derby tonight.
RHP
Griffin Hugus also got some love as an ACC Top Cape Performer this past week, pitching 6.1 innings with a 1.42 ERA and 7 Ks for the Bourne Braves.
