baseball game at FAU

How do you not go with Garcia with bases loaded and tie game? You go with a true freshman who has thrown an inning in his career?

NOW it's Miami baseball season. At least we'll be sitting at .500 after Florida sweeps us this weekend.

Not a very rare occurrence for Morris over the years. He takes the developmental aspect of mid-week games just too far, and it strangely seems to follow a solid weekend series. He would be the first to tell you how much more important in his mind it was to get MM some early work versus using any arms needed for 2.20 or 2.21.

After what he has experienced these last 6 years, and then 6 before that, you would think he would understand the importance of getting every win, but he is a true old school guy looking long haul. Hope it pays off. All that said, a poor decision by the first baseman to load the bases likely was the difference. Get that second out, we likely never see the kid....but I agree with you for sure.

Canes will be 4-4 after Sunday, 6-6 NEXT sunday, and a losing record thereafter.

Giving Morris an extension was a criminal act.

You have to expect these types of losses in college baseball. Everyone loses midweek games. FSU lost today. I think LSU was losing to Nichols St or something. I'm ****ed about losing like we did but it happens. We need to have a good weekend. I think we can beat them. We need solid innings from our starting pitchers. UF is freakin good. I think UF takes 2 of 3 but I wouldn't be surprised if we took the series. I will be there Friday and Saturday night.

And I do agree that midweek games are great for getting guys work but if you were already bringing in Garcia a batter later then just do it!

We're a good team. I truly believe Honiotes will be our mid-week guy once he builds up some arm strength and knocks off the rust. Kid was a monster recruit and really had a great arm before injury.

Its a mid week game in week two of the season. The purpose of the early season midweek games are to season your roster.

Correct. Then why even bring Garcia in right after that? The reason is because Morris was playing the lefty/righty matchups.

I agree to a point. However, it comes down to being a solid manager with some foresight...you want to win your midweek games while seasoning your roster. Not at the expense of it.

You give your guys who need some PT early PT--then you bring out the big guns when those guys get into trouble if/when you need to in order to secure the win. Why not just let the young guys take 9 innings and learn regardless of outcome?

Because it's losses like this one that keep us out of the top 8 national seeds at the end of the regular season. These games are of paramount importance when it comes down to postseason seeding. Taking 2 of 3 in our big weekend series along with the occasional sweeps are important, but you can only afford maybe 1 or 2 midweek losses during a season if you want a national seed. We had 4 bad ones last year (FAU/B-C/Stetson/UCF).

We have 2 more meetings with FAU throughout the season. We'd better not drop another one to them, and we need to hold serve against the likes of FGCU/Stetson/Barry/Army/UCF. Otherwise, even sweeps against U*** or UNC or other national powers won't even help us get into the ever-important Top 8.
