More like Miami isn't considering Bain

so who are we targeting that is realistic?

Much like Figueroa...probably guys you or I have no idea about in addition to Bryant and Bostwick

Why would we not of heard of them when we hear of all the other recruits at the other positions?

Not sure if serious

Certainly, I started a thread yesterday and was ripped. 24 hours later no poster has named any DT's we are after seriously and in contention with besides one that decommitted and another who cancelled an OV the day he was supposed to fly. Until I hear names, like we do about Coley at WR, Williams at RB, I am going to give the staff an F- on DT recruiting. Bash me all you want and I certainly hope I am wrong

I am sure that Golden and his staff are shaking in their boots.

Plan C like last year at DT? Other positions staff is doing well, just our biggest area of need you'd expect a high volume of names and we don't hear them.

Bain is a 4 star recruit. Maybe he is not as good as advertised and maybe he has issues. But if the staff has cooled on him it seems they must feel confident elsewhere. Otherwise they would be after Bain.

Ok, some people have mentioned it quietly in this thread already, but BAIN HAS NOT PLAYED DT AT ALL THIS YEAR FOR HIS TEAM. He has been playing on the offensive side of the ball. It has been speculated many times that the staff cooled on him a while ago regardless of other recruits as they didn't think he would be that good of a DT at the collegiate level if his high school team wasn't even using him on defense.

Threads like this are why there should be periods of time when the recruiting board should be "read only".

Let the guys getting the info for us share it without freaking out with tons of threads daily as to how the staff is "failing".

This kind of baby *** **** is as bad as negative recruiting from other schools. You silly *** mother****ers are negative recruiting your own team with this sad display of *****assness.

For the #Miami fans wondering, Maquedius Bain isn't considering #TheU:

Awesome, more SFLA kids getting out and another DT off the board.......:ohlord:

Stop it. You hadn't heard of Figeruoa until a day before he committed. Danny Mattingly (TE) wasn't on anyone's radar until he visited. There are JUCO and Prep players who none of us have ever heard of. Have some patience. Until then, negged.

I think the staff knows a lot more about who's on their board and what they have on the team then any of us do.
Lest anyone forget we do have 8 dt's on the roster. Moore, Briscoe and Ivery and Corey King were all guys everyone thought would be good
by their junior and senior seasons, you know...like all DT commits.
It takes time to develop both d line and o line players.
Everybody here keeps harping that we need an impact D lineman, like some freshman is going to come in here and dominate like they did in high school.
Every DT we have if you look at their HS tape dominated in high school. Even the so called plan C recruits dominated in high school.
The fact of the matter is that there isn't one DT available no matter the stars that is going to come in here and dominate.
Boy strength versus man strength.
I think it is realistic to say that every DT we have on the roster right now is a better college DT then any high school DT in the country.
Players need time to develop, even superstar talent needs time to develop and adjust.
Same as when college stars go to the pros. It's a rare player that stars on the next level instantaneously.
The top 1% of high school players play in college and only the best in college go to the pros.
We've had a lot of dominant DT's here at Miami. A lot of them, and NONE of them were dominant as freshmen. Not Rubin Carter, Lester Williams, Kevin ***an, Tony Chickillo, Jim Burt, Jerome Brown, Damione Lewis, Greg Mark, Vince Wilfork, Warren Sapp, Matt Walters, William Joseph, Daniel Stubbs, The Tez, Russell Maryland. NONE of them.

Give our guys the chance to earn your disdain or your praise. Just like in the past I'm sure there will be some stars out of our current group, because there always has been and always will be.

This is not the least bit surprising, it was reported weeks ago that we were looking at this kid as an OL candidate, not on D, and it really never seeemed that we were recruiting him too hard. I wouldnt call this a "loss' by the staff, seems like they cooled on him, or feel they have better options at where they project him.

With all due respect, not sure if anyone thought that Moore, King and Ivery were going to be good. All three were pretty much plan C guys taken to fill in the roster.

Im not sure if they were plan C, I think at least two could have been Plan B guys. They wanted bodies to provide some depth, these guys werent TOTAL SCRUBS, they were 3 star kids who could grow into contributors down the line. No one expected them to be immediate impact guys, that much is true.

Ivery looks like he has some talent, at least to me. Moore as well. You have to remember how hard it is for kids to immediately come in and start mashing bodies with 22/23 year old men. King, on the other hand, has not flashed any type of talent here. 2 out of 3 Plan C guys have a fairly good ceiling with a staff that knows how to extract talent.

That is not bad.

Moore was a plan c guy?

Dude was taken in August. Cmon son

Maybe a B, not a C. He gets a few more years to prove me wrong, but Moore was a bad take IMO. It wasn´t a good year for in-state DTs, and for some reason we were late in going after Elkino Watson. But Moore was considered a USF-type talent, and I would be surprised if he isn´t. Happy, but surprised. He is pretty maxed out physically at 6´0 tops, 280lbs, with short arms and little explosion. Ivery OTOH has shown that he may be more than the staff bargained for, big body with a great get-off. Hope we can redshirt him next season. But he was definitely a plan C.

On a completely different position, I noticed a plan C or plan D guy just won the Heisman trophy. Some 3 star guy who was 6' 175lbs when he was a true freshman and redshirted.
Players need time to develop.

Colin Klein was a WR too I am pretty sure
