lol true, waited until his soph year but I will be candid that while I always want former Canes to do well and show out in the NFL regardless of where they end up when they are at Miami I am albeit selfish that I want what is best for the team.
Aside from what OP pointed out which are the talking points I have seen, why is it that Messidor, also a big DE, is better suited at DT than Bain at DT?
Have we seen Bain at DT really at all this season? Legit question I just simply dont recall. Maybe what we saw Saturday was a flash in the pan but Messidor made the defense look MUCH better when he was at DE as I dont think he is even an above average DT but he is obviously better than what is behind him. If we are all about winning and we have a dearth of DE but need DT help maybe just try him out against Syracuse and see what happens. He may grow out of being a DE next year but if we had 4 bains we likely dont give a **** about the line. He is a good problem to have in that you want him to play every position on the DL because he is that good at each one.
After the VT game I was worried that Bain would have to take some snaps at DT when he came back, since Mesidor was such a liability there. Bain at DT only made sense as a desperation move, and honestly he'd probably only have been marginally better than Mesidor there.
Clark/Moten/Cook have all played much better as the season has gone on, and the coaches are comfortable enough getting Justin Scott ~10 snaps a game at DT. So that's 5+ guys we can rotate at DT while keeping Mesidor and Bain at DE where they're really good-great. Horton got a few snaps on Saturday too, so we should have enough bodies at DT to finish out the year.
