Bain should stay outside the rest of his career, keep using him in the same role as Mesidor and then follow the same plan for Blount as well.

Will be looking for for a DT in the portal for sure to either start or be the first guy off the bench, depending on how Moten and Horten develop.

Whats exciting is that its looking like finally after this year, Miami should have hte depth where DT isnt a portal ever year out of necessity.

I could see Blain either way, but I believe Guidry has hinted towards him moving inside. Blount I lean inside if a 4-3…Reminds me of Leonard Taylor. Again though, I don't see it being impossible he's a SS DE, possibly a better version of Chantz Williams

Nope. Wants to go to GA, but they aren’t offering him **** in NIL$, so word is family now leaning Miam over OR - which has offered more than Miami fyi
Thank you! Surprised UGA, with basically unlimited $$$, won't offer him whatever it takes. especially since you indicated he was willing to take a discount to play there.

I’ve never been the biggest Hunte guy but he’s been very solid to good this year. Funny what a a few months can make a satiation look like. He was almost out the door before we missed on the DT’s.

Well he’s looking like we all hoped he would when he flashed early… finally.Very happy he stuck it out and put in the work. I think Elijah Roberts and Jordan Miller made a mistake by leaving personally.

UGA doesn’t just do NIL so that makes their situation ambiguous. I know a kid who got a nice nil deal but it was significantly more with non NIL. “Non taxable money“. That said we’ve been working this one hard behind the scenes even though most had him signed , sealed and delivered to UGA.

As I’ve been saying for weeks just get him down on a visit and we can seal it up. Which is still possible.

I’m sure you’re right. But, I know people who were involved in the negotiations with GA (and Miami). GA offered him basically nothing with no mention of non NIL - that of course could change. At that time, he was all GA no matter what, which surprised me given that both Miami and OR were in 7 figures. But I heard today that changed, because of the money, and the educated guess over there was Miami slightly winning out over OR. Don’t shoot the messenger, but heard there are some concerns about his senior tape and attitude.

Miami has been working this hard on the down low even though most had us out of it, it was Oregon vs UGA. There’s a reason I’ve been more positive (@Brooklyndee too).

This go round I take that stuff with a grain of salt but they’ve been dead on with the teams they thought they should be concerned about , even if they’ve been off on expecting commits here.

UGA is one of the few schools I know how they roll when it comes to off the grid deals and how they take care of current players. NIL isn’t what concerns me with their method of operation. Bama either. The “ other method“ is what makes both tough to beat. Foundations will never go away, even with Nil.

It’s as unpredictable as ever.

With NIL and taxable income now on the table, is it plausible the IRS ever comes knocking at least as a scare tactic with all this money being thrown around?

Where is Breland originally from? Mater Dei gets dudes from all over their state.

Once again here are your DC's comments not mine:

Guidry's comments after the A&M game in a 247 article "If we were big up front and we were stout and they couldn't block us, I probably wouldn't pressure as much. When you are athletic and a little thin, then you have to do these things."

We have a roster packed full of undersized 3 technique DT's and a whole slew of guys who really aren't that talented to challenge the big boy programs at the position. We are **** lucky to have a guy like Guidry who masks those deficiencies by stacking so many guys up at the DL and making them guess who is coming or backing out.

Looking over our roster of DT's all of them are 3 technique but Moten who really hasn't shown much yet. If we miss on Breland that will be yet another whiff on actual big time talent at the position. Who is responsible? I hold Mario responsible for only getting 1 in his first class and not treating DT exactly the same way he treated the OL, with the caveat being that Joe doesn't seem to do very well recruiting big time HS DT's because he whiffs like he has a whiffle ball bat as the strike out king.

2 DTs per class is the minimum and I am not talking about portal DTs. Folks are giddy about 1 big time DT in this thread that could reclass from 2025 to 2024. Other than that, we have recruited 1 DT in the class of 2023 and 1 thus far for the class of 2024 and that is unsatisfactory........period!
Only thing I would argue is the guessing who is coming is kinda obvious when you drop our ends in coverage so often. I'd like to see us let the ends pin their ears back more often. But overall he's killed it this far, I'm just not a huge fan of having our best pass rushers in coverage.
