I was looking at our old recruiting class and was blown away how much attrition we've had from the 2012 class, Golden's first "real" class.

Jawand Blue - Raped a girl, GONE
Jacoby Briscoe - Too much playstation, GONE
Jontavious Carter - Did some **** I can't remember, GONE
Vernon Davis - Didn't last a week on campus - GONE
Preston Dewey - Concussion, GONE
Danny Dillard - GONE
Dwayne Hoilett - Transferred, GONE
Dequan Ivery - GONE
Gabriel Terry - Did some **** I can't remember, GONE
David Thompson - Left the team to play baseball, GONE
Josh Witt - Concussion, GONE

On top of that, we had Angelo Jean Louis and Robert Lockhart.... both good players.... who never qualified.

That's pretty incredible if you think about it. The only players who are still around are:

Deon Bush
Antonio Crawford
Gray Crow
Nate Dortch
Erek Flowers
Taylor Gadbois
Ladarius Gunter
Jelani Hamilton
Larry Hope
Tracy Howard
Danny Isadora
Rashawn Jenkins
Duke Johnson
DiMauri Jones
Raphael Kirby
Malcom Lewis
Tyriq McCord
Herb Waters

I don't know if that attrition is a good thing or a bad thing. But it's sure interesting.

Let's see how the next few classes work out. especially now without the cloud and the fact that folks are buying into the process.

Storm Johnson transferred too. We lost alot of depth because of this. It sucks because we are now playing catch up from all the bodies we lost.

The vast majority of those guys left are contributing to the team, are they not? Most are entrenched in the depth chart as either a 1, or a 2.

Every school faces attrition and flat out miss on guys. Now is Miami washing guys out, and missing on players that they sign at a higher rate than other schools? Honestly I don't know as I don't follow other schools, but it would be interesting to see the number of guys who end up washing out of other programs.

lockhart, carter, and davis transfered because of playing time, most of those GONE guys on that list werent going to do jack here

I'm sure it happens everywhere, but we seem to have an over abundance of absolute whiffs in recent years of recruiting. Tough to build quality depth with half your class no longer in school

You forgot Thomas Finnie. He was gone for stealing mac laptop from his roommate and teammate and smoking weed.

As a whole, I think we had unrealistic expectations of Goldens first 2 classes. 2011 was in shambles. We had 7 commits and NO visits lined up. Sure we could have hit on a few but that class got us Perryman, Chick, Dorsett, Botts, Pierre, and Crawford, who helped changed the culture. Then the cloud came and we still were able to add some gamebreaking talent in Duke, Tracy, Tyriq, and Flowers. I think there is a degree of truth in the fact that Golden saw a bunch of kids in the state that he would have loved the chance to work with and mold at Temple and got over excited. They just weren't quite UM calibur. He had no South Florida ties and didn't have many on the staff either so both from an Evals standpoint, from an understanding the culture standpoint, he was coming in blind and that class kind of shows that.

2013 is too soon to judge. It was a small class with some major misses but also looks like a pretty good concentration of guys who will contribute. Coley was the guy who saved that class from being a massive failure.

2014 is my favorite class we've had in a long, long time. Ballers everywhere. Really, outside of Cook and Valentine who were never coming here anyways, we cleaned up pretty good I'd say. Still a few reaches but who knows, maybe those guys turn into animals. 4 years is a long time for a guy to improve.

2015, ill reserve judgement till I see some senior highlights. I haven't watched all of our committs tape or the tape of who else is out htere.
