Attendance

You guys make it seem like the UF game was a real sellout! There were plenty of empty seats so the numbers are not strictly based off that. The SSU game suprisingly had a decent crowd considering the opponent. Last year 20k would have showed up. And I disagree with the "night game" theory.

Night games is what KILLS this team. South Florida people dont want to spend there Saturday Night at a UM game. Did you guys see the attendance for Vtech last year? And that was a "big" game for us. We all but locked up the Coastal because of that win. 30k showed up. If that..

The 3:30 time slot is our BEST FRIEND. Not too early to where the heat is too much to bare and not too late to where you cant salvage the night and hit a club or lounge/bar after the game. Last years UNC game had 50k and that was AFTER we got slaughtered by ND. Great crowd. I was SHOCKED.

I stand by my 55k-60k prediction for this game.

That VT game was on a thursday night, the night games we have had this season were against those high school teams, so far our bigger games have been during the day

1. Last year's VT game was on a Thursday night

2. This year's FAU game was on a Friday night

3. Last year's UNC game was UM employee day where half the stadium goes for free, hence the 55k in attendance (Duke in 2011, Maryland in 2010)

d) I guarantee you that there would have been about 25k max for the sav state game had it been a nooner

50k MAX on saturday

lol what ive been saying every time someone wants to say SLS is the reason why we dont draw. WINNING and WINNING only will cure all. ****, BTW and Central drew what 10k pus in the traz. the marlins have a shiny new park and cant draw a soul unless jose is pitching. doesnt matter if we played in a hs stadium, if we win people will come bc canes games will become an event and miami is an event town

The last time we were relevant we were 5-1 in 2009 coming off wins against FSU and OU. 43k showed up to watch us play Clemson at 3:30.

Rokulika,

1) Are you saying we cant draw crowds on Thursday nights? We have always drawn decent-good crowds on Thurs night games. Especially if its against a good opponent. I have never seen a Thursday night game draw that bad. That was embarassing.

2) FAU is a local team with a student body of about 30k and alot of local alumni. And it was our opening game. If you didnt think we would draw a good crowd for them you seriously under-estimate our core fans. AND on top of the the 83' team was being honored. Some people went just for that.

3) You can make excuses all you want but that was a good crowd all things considered. 55k is 55k. There werent that many **** UM employees there. UM only has 10k in the student body. How many employess plus family could possibly make up that 55k??

4) Agree 100%. **** there might have been 15-20k if it was 90 degrees plus out there. Lol.

3)

we don't have an attendance problem as much as we have a capacity problem. i am expecting 55 for this game.

This. It's about supply and demand. Move Miami into a 55K capacity stadium and we sell out every game. Many people dont buy season tickets because they know they can pick and choose the big games and the supply will be there. You drop the supply and people are forced to buy season tickets.

No one ever wants to point this fact out. A 50-55K stadium and you'd never hear a peep about attendance, Miami gets 50K for a game and it's bash city, Oregon get 55K and it's hand-jobs for everyone.

Lulz at this thread and anyone who thinks we get more than 50K, its been discussed and hashed and rehashed for years.

When we are winning and its a below average to average opponent (on Saturdays):
Noon: 38,000-42000
3:30 : 40,500-45,000
Night: 45,000- 50,000

When we are winning and its a "name" opponent:
Noon: 42,000-45,000
3:30: 45,000-48,000
Night:48,000-51,000

FSU, UF, and VaTech (Saturday)
Anywhere from 50,000 - 70,000 because their fans travel

Now specifically for GaTech this Saturday, see above and I'll hit on the high end of the prediction because its family day for the undergrads and they are getting rock bottom pricing if not for free (I happen to work with a guy who's daughter is on the swim team). Georgia Tech fans do not travel well at all, its almost astonishing how few fans show up. So, I'll say 50,000 but no more.

Sun Life cannot mask we are in a stadium that has 20,000 more seats than we need.

And by the way, attendance is down for college football, especially the student sections across the country, even in the vaunted SEC, Wall Street Journal did an article on it a couple of weeks ago. Big screen, high def tv's and portable comms are making the game day attendance unatractive.

I'm sick of this ****. What kills attendance is noon games, what kills attendance is night games. Make up your ******* minds.

After a quick check Miami had higher average attendance last year than 76 other schools, FWIW.

You know what? This is a stupid thread. Who cares how many show up?? Just be one of the people in attendance and the rest will take care of itself! I will be there and for the people who were so passionate enough to let the thread go on this long (like me) you better be there too!
