At least we don't have Pat Haden

Washington was 0-12 the year before Sarkisian took over. Good coach, will do very well at USC. Going to take 3-4 years though.

Pat Hayden is one of the most intelligent people in sports. Highly accomplished in life. He's right. Who ever really knows? I admire that he has the guts to just say it as it is.

Pat Hayden's a clown...he hired Lane Kiffin to be his head coach....lol. Dude cant be that intelligent, constantly has foot in mout, constantly makes blunders

Garrett hired Kiffin, not Haden.

That was one of the problems at USC, none of the coaches were Haden's guys.
Orgeron probably never had a chance, which is why he was so ****ed when Haden just up and hired one of his close friends to coach the team.

I never liked Kiffin, but he, like Golden, inherited a nightmare situation. He takes his dream job then gets a 2 year bowl ban and loses 30 scholly's.
In the third year when the scholly's reductions are doing the worst damage, leaving USC with barely a 2 deep and special teams of scholly's players, he gets canned.
Not saying he didn't deserve it as Kiffin seemed to have lost the team, but Haden was probably just waiting until the opportunity arose to fire him and bring in his guy.

correct, but Kiffin just isnt a good coach regardless of what went on there.

Haden seemed to want his guy their anywa...and Sark likely was top 3 candidate. Cowherd spoke on how Pete Carrol would make his assistants do mock job interviews, theres a reason his guys are getting gigs so easily even down to Kiffin. **** Sark's interview with usc had been mocked 3 years earlier.lol

He's a good fit imo and it wouldnt/shouldnt take 3-4 years for anything in the pac 12 garbage imo. Even with all the sanctions USC still was hoarding all the talent. They'll compete with Oregon and UCLA/Stanford for the next few yrs.

Except fail. He inherited Kiffin from Garrett bro, used him to get through the probation when the job was less attractive, and canned his *** as soon as the program saw some light.

Haden has fired the baseball, basketball and football coaches within the past 12 months. I think his instincts are good, even if Petersen from Boise State would have been a sexier hire. Apparently Petersen didn't interview well. That's the word on USC forums. Some are suggesting he didn't really want to leave Boise State and essentially sabotaged his own interview.

Haden doesn't come across as tough. That's the issue with USC fans. They are livid he didn't challenge or condemn the NCAA. Mike Garrett might have contributed to the overboard sanctions but USC fans appreciated the "jealous" summary he made after the NCAA hearing. That's the mindset at USC. It was no different 30 years ago when I was there. John Robinson always wanted to come across as tough and no nonsense. He ran the ball down your throat with Student Body Right and the entire athletic department adopted that attitude. I was never fully appreciated as lead sports writer for the Daily Trojan because I often pointed out the frailties and inconsistencies. They weren't used to that. Robinson actually walked out of an interview at Heritage Hall, never to return, when I had the audacity to ask about recruits we missed out on in spring 1982 after he flirted with the Patriots coaching position, and some of USC's rivals used that against him in recruiting.

I love USC as an alum. Sharpest people I've ever met were on that campus. I still see it on their forums. Extremely high level of debate. But the overall attitude is kind of comedic, like everybody is riding on the white horse with a song girl on either arm. They can't accept that the greatest coaches in the country aren't diving face first toward campus to beg for the job.

Pat Hayden became AD in August of 2010, Kiffin became coach of USC in January of 2010.

Not to mention that he is a Rhodes Scholar.

Take it a step further - the 6 years before Sark got there, UW had 18 wins.
