Asante Cleveland & Kelvin Cain

why do i keep seeing this about DYE.

Do you guys realize he's our actual starting TE...?/ or you dont watch the games..?

he's our blocking te...and plays AWHOLE lot and does a good job blocking......Cory White and David Perry are guys that could be lost to attrittion if theres any....

As massive scholarship reductions are on the horizon, threads like this are no longer applicable. As bad as you think that the players on scholarship may be, the roster will have to be filled with walk-ons, many of whom will be worse.

This is what I was trying to get at in my post. Dye plays a ton.

For all those upset about this subject, Attrition happens, don't see the harm in discussing candidates. I would be surprise if White, Cleveland, Perry were all back next year. If they all stay we would have 8or 9 TEs on the roster and I don't see that happening.

This happens at every program. If the kid already has his degree, you can pretty much tell him he doesn't fit in with your plans this season and if he wants to play he should look into transferring somewhere.

Spots are at a premium now, it wouldn't hurt to cut some dead weight.

He might start, but he gets replaced almost immediately by Walford every game. As for why Dye? Numbers...

Golden has already stated that he will sign 15-16 recruits. Presently we have 81 on 'ships less 12 graduating putting us at 69 which hits the 16 Coach alluded to. The second part of this is at he also stated he wants to be at 80 'ships to already be prepared to deal with the sanctions as a staff. So who are the 5 that go? I think Dye is one. We have Walford, Cleveland, Dobard and TJ coming in as well. Plus Perry and throw in Kerr at least for the first year, and I just don't see Dye sticking around.

You think Dye gets let go before Cleveland? I thought Dye had seen a ton more playing time? My guess is White gets let go first, then Cleveland if we need the schollie, then Perry (who is still only a SO) if we need a third schollie.

To be fair, the coaches know who still has a chance to pan out and who probably doesn't. I would imagine they have a real conversation with these guys. If they want to stay, be part of the team, and continue academically, then fine. That's a promise made to them.

On the other hand, if they want a realistic chance to see the field as potentially a full-time starter before the eligibility runs out, then they should be given an honest assessment of what's likely to play out so that they can make an informed decision as to how they would like to see their careers end.

No offense but you must not watch the games. Dye and Walford both play a lot, Cleveland barely sees the field. Not sure if Perry has seen more then 10 snaps all season. That should tell you all you need to know.
