Any chance these two end up leaving the program in the offseason? Neither guy has seen much playing time this season and don't look like they'll see much next season.

We could give their spots to Devante Bond and Beau Sandland and call it a day.

I think both return but Corey White and Dyron Dye could be gone...

Always great threads when we start naming guys we want to leave...stay classy.

Agree. We should be hoping these kids develop into better Miami Hurricane football players during the offseason, not hoping that they leave the program. Especially since we have seen Golden and staff resurrect several players' careers, whom the majority of our fan base have written off as "JAGs", into solid contributors and nice depth. Great manifestation of this --- what Kendall Thompkins did last game against USF with a depleted WR core from injuries. Every single one of these kids on our roster chose to be Canes on their own volition, many times over offers from other elite football schools. For that reason alone, I will unequivocally be hoping that each and every one of them become successful in both their collegiate football and academic pursuits, as well as their endevours after leaving UM.

this isn't the NFL. you can't just "cut" players because they are bad.

With scholarship reductions and Golden looking to bing in 3-5 JC recruits in this class, you can bet there will be major "cuts" in the offseason.

Sure you can. Work out a deal with Portland St or Montana to take these 2 kids. The kids can play right away at 1-aa (where they should have been all along), finish up their education, and Miami gets 2 guys who are physically ready to contribute in their place.

Cleveland and Dye are both JRs. Dye plays a lot, Cleveland doesn't. That should provide an answer into who the coaches think is more valuable.

Scholarships are renewed on a year to year basis so you actually can

Its not great ethics but it is possible. Its normally a bad tactic because you are going to burn bridges with w/e school that kid came from and develop a bad rep

i dont understand how it would be unethical to not renew a player's scholly. If you're on academic scholly you have to maintain a certain GPA(perform at a certain level) to keep it. If you dont perform at a high level athletically, then you shouldn't keep your athletic scholly.

If the kids are redshirt juniors, they will have graduated by the time May of 2013 rolls around. These kids can easily be let go with no repercussions.

Kids that are only SOs or true JRs should be handled with a little more care - you have to sit them down, let them know that they wont see any playing time, and encourage them to move on to a program where they can contribute and be a win-win for both parties. We can help them find appropriate programs to go to.

And yes, we need to be ruthless here. Reduced schollie allocations in the future mean we need to make every schollie count - we wont have room for JAGs.

Both players are red-shirt JR.
Which mean they're SR.,
