As Poorly as He's Played...

Stephen Morris is one stellar game away from putting himself back in the mix for being a 1st day draft pick. If he runs the offense well, moves the chains, hits an occasional big play and avoids turnovers tomorrow he can, in my opinion, undo all of the negative pub he's gotten this season.

As well, I think for UM to have a shot at winning tomorrow, Stephen Morris MUST have at least 50 - 60 rushing yards.

Thoughts???

morris has 7 games left of his senior year, he has plenty of time to put his draft stock back where he wants it to be but he has to start tomorrow, i just don't see how thats gonna happen all of a sudden but oh well we will see, as for him rushing for 50-60 yards, that'll sure help but it don't think its completely necessary, what I want to see (and this may be something I'm getting my hopes up for) is him looking for the tight ends and coley calling a balanced running attack with duke and dallas, not running duke into the ground, i think we should give them a heavy dose of duke (20-25 carries) but not more than that like last week

The most he ever rushed was for 40 yards against UNC in 2012 and he got injured that game. He could rush it that much but I doubt it, I don't think that is a must for us to win either.

Move the ball, don't turn it over, complete passes and repeat. That is it, I am not asking for a big game with 4 touchdowns and 300 yards. Just move the ball, hit a high % of passes and no turnovers. Unless FSU shuts DOWN our run game, I just want Morris to be smart and efficient.

I've been down on Morris, but if there is the slightest positive I can take into Saturday it's that he's ******* DUE.

Morris.... Please and I mean please have the best game of your career tomorrow night in Tally...

If he just hits the intermediate routes, 10 to 15 yards, we will be in this game. He can't keep floating them 5 yards over the receiver.

i hope we sling it more than we have been.. i'll take a 4 TD 1/2 INT game out of morris.. and i think we can win it that way... i don't think FSU is going to let duke run wild on them.

great point! if morris can run to pick up 1st downs on pivotal short yardage 3rd downs we win!

Its not so much the total rushing yards but that he gain the critical yards with his feet in order to keep drives alive.

Whether you're down on him or not, Morris remind me of a pitcher with a 98-mph fastball who always goes to the mound with a catch to light it up. No way he's running for 50-60 yards. If he does, it means he's running for his life and we're in deep trouble.

ABM, always be moving. I don't care how, just don't turn it over.

I got to thinking last night..... this game has changed a lot of legacies. Shockey wasn't SHOCKEY before that 4th quarter pass from Dorsey. We have a roster full of kids who are good and need to take that "great" step. I'm not sure if they have it in them or not, but some of the folks we fondly remember as "great" weren't great coming into the FSU game and they changed it. What an opportunity.

The one thing that has always stood out to me more than anything about Morris, including the absurd arm strength, is that he is a feisty competitor. When he came in and lead the late charge against Notre Dame as a freshman, he looked like he was the only guy on the field that gave a ****. He gets a little bratty with the receivers sometimes, but all great QBs do. Bottom line is that this is a bunker game, and this is the type of guy I want in my bunker. Don't give a **** how he has played coming in, because these are the types of guys that have the ability to step up when the chips are down.

And he has been absolutely on the money late in the game, despite all his shortcomings.
