Artie Burns race

So much for all that talk about him going to the Olympics and leaving the foloootball team.
His junior record in that event would have had him qualifying for the Olympic finals 2 years ago.

There's a huge difference between Olympic level hurdle height and high school. I don't want to be a*****, but saying he would've qualified for the Olympic finals is very misleading.

Right at the top it states it is the PRELIMS. Very rarely does anyone put PR numbers in the prelims.

Wait for the finals and then freak out about his time.

Right next to the top 8, the is a "q," indicating that those runners qualified for the finals. Artie did not qualify.

Dang Jamaicans.... Just joking; i'm Jamaican but not that fast at 6'2 329lbs. LOL! !

Think his best this season is 7.68....so not a great race for him. Btw, the freshman who finished second at 7.57 is Jamaican so Artie's American Junior record still stands.

Defintely a track talent, but near impossible to be a serious player at a big-time football program and an Olympic caliber hurdler. Rarely happens. Top hurdlers are pros who compete summers on the major European circuit.

Outdoor season starts next week so let's see how he does in the 110m. He doesn't need to race in Europe to be Olympic caliber. College meets haven open classes where college athletes can run against pros.

That's when you start evaluating him. Indoor track is kind of tricky for Florida and California kids. They really never practice indoors until they go to college and even then, only one day before OOS indoor track meets! Again, he needs to work on his technique (he clips the blocks a lot). Once he becomes a good technician, watch out.

He's a freshman.

So were 3 of the guys who finished in front of him. Olympics is for the elite of the elite, not just good college hurdlers who finish 15th out of 16.

Why the hate? This seems petty.

His best time is still better than all but the kid from Jamaica. Plus, it's not even an Olympic event. A better indication will be how he does outdoors in the 110m. So hold off fully hating until he's done with that season, at least if you want this petty diatribe to actually relate to the Olympics.

LULZ at "hate". I'm not so sure that too many Olympic hurdlers finish 15th out of 16 in a college meet. I love Artie Burns as a football prospect. Making posts that don't always make excuses for Cane shortcomings shouldn't be confused for hate.
