Ran a PR of 7.68 today. Second-fastest in school history. He is getting better and better every meet.

Burns will be in Rio for the 2016 Olympics. Also will be a 1st round pick. If Burns gave up football and focused on Track only he would be a gold medalist in 5 years. And top 5 in the world in Hurdles.

Prototype athlete. Wish a freak technical guy would grab a hold of him before he gets to the pros. If you see what NFL coaches did with raw athletes like Rodgers-Cromartie and Shields, you have to wonder what they'd do with this guy. I'll say again he doesn't seem as quick as Rodgers-Cromartie, but seems more physical.

Now he has to be put in the position to train finding the ball in the air.

For real, he's going to blow the **** up this year. Our DBs have all looked good to varying degrees but he has tools that the others just don't have. He took a few lumps last year but he was more impressive, much more actually, than Tracy was as a freshman and he was awesome last year.

Kid was always right there with his man........ Like you said, just needs to be coached/continue to work on the finer points of player corner. His explosion and closing speed is AMAZING. I can definitely see why some of the pro guys at the UA all American games said he looked like a safety.

USF, Wake, and Louisville are three times where he whiffed on a ball up for grabs. Probably just him being a freshman but he does need to improve on that.

As a group I thought our DB's struggled in this area. Then again, a lot of the plays I'm remembering could be attributed to AJ Highsmith.

I thought he was fine. Hard to look good in coverage for an entire commercial break. We gotta get some pass rush before we can say a negative word about the corners. We're as good there as we've been since the glory days. Howard is the guy I think takes the step forward this year and becomes just a flat out island. Gunter has improved a lot too, he came here raw and plays the run like a beast.

Burns has the potential to be the best of the bunch. Really had that puppy look out there last year, it will be interesting to see him grow.

Another freak athlete who looked slow and tentative on the field. You could practically see his brain grinding him to a halt out there as he was over-thinking everything. If you looked at his game action from last year and then saw him running track you'd think they were two completely different guys.

This guy has all the physical tools and the heart of a lion. He should be a Patrick Peterson type football player. I really hope they don't overburden him and keep him playing slow.

We all knew he was an freak athlete now I just hope Williams can coach him up. Just for reference purposes Eddie Lovitt (UF) won the ncca championship indoor 60 meter hurdles in 2013. He ran his seasons best this year yesterday and his time was a 7.69.

Kid will make huge gains this upcoming season. I remember when everyone was worried about Tracy Howard and he got so much better this past year. Artie Burns has all the physical talent in the world. Can't wait to see him grow.

This ^

We have been capable of developing DBs more so than other positions on D.

KC Rodger - although hampered by not being an athlete deserving of a D1 scholarship, over performed this year.

Bush - attended many of his highschool games and he never looked to be capable of playing safety at the next level. But, once he stepped on campus he has shown an aggressive, hard hitting mentality that he never had in highschool. Sadly this year he never fully recovered from this summers surgery

Tracy - developed into our best DB this year

Brandon McGee - although talented, was a disappointment until this staff came and he then became our best CB

Hopefully Jenkins, Carter, Corn, Burns & Crawford can turn the corner next year too

I still feel as if he was one of the more impressive freshman this year. Obviously, only one really stood out with Coley. However, Burns does have a massive amount of potential. I think his impact this year is bigger than many expect.

But is he top 5 in his physics class? Isn't that what he's here for, I mean, according to some his incredible 1 in a hundred million physical gifts shouldn't matter to a university unless he ALSO can write essays on "A Tale of Two Cities".

Huh?

And what inspired you to take this thread in that direction?
