Just in case anyone has not realized how much Al sucks. Well done. Thanks for pulling it together.

This line is just unbelievable to me:

Golden is 3-26 against teams that finish with fewer than five losses in a season. Two of those wins came this season in home games against teams that were overmatched talent-wise (Duke and Cincinnati).

How is this guy a head coach anywhere, let alone at a prestigious job like Miami?

lol

The Hurricanes went from 9-4 in 2013 to 6-7 in 2014. A team with a True Freshman All-American at quarterback, one of the top running backs in school history accumulating 2,073 yards from scrimmage, one of the most explosive deep threats in the country, a projected first- or second-round left tackle, a Mackey Award finalist, and a Butkus Award finalist finished 6-7. A team with FAU and Arkansas State on its schedule that enjoys the benefit of playing in the weakest power-conference subdivision in the country ended up with a sub-.500 record in a head coach’s fourth year on the job.

All you need to know!

The sad thing is, you can write a whole other article in regards to our ridiculous defensive philosophy and our incompetent offensive play calling.

SIAP

But you gotta but pedophilia state having a better record and winning a bowl game with waaaay worse sanctions.

I tend to agree with the sentiments expressed by the OP, or writer of the article, or whatever you call it.

That said, I think the only legitimate reason to keep Al Golden, the only logical contention one could make for keeping him, is that he will use "the cloud" against us and use it to damage us further from a PR perspective. Now, just like you, I know that "the cloud" excuse is total and complete bullsh!t. With that said, much of the National Media (who does not keep as close an eye on any individual program as its most devout fans) disagrees.

Basically, the administration might be asking themselves "who the **** would want to coach here if we appear not to have any regard for loyalty?" Respect it or not, Golden did stick around with us after this whole "cloud" thing broke out, and firing him now could be a bad move politically. We might be able to bring in an even better coach next year and be able to say that we treated Al Golden fairly.

Note that I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing with this sentiment, just pointing out that it is a legitimate thing. If our administration isn't completely incompetent, this may be one of the reasons they are out there spinning everything. Another reason could be money, as we mistakenly rewarded Golden with a hefty contract for nothing, and the budget might indicate that we need to keep Golden on the payroll another season before we can afford to buy him out and go after a big coaching name.

Just saying, there might be more levels to this than you guys believe. Or, our admin might actually be incompetent, but from our perspective, there is no way to know this absolutely. I think it is a good idea to consider all of the possibilities.

Wake up. Sounds like you're in the clouds. Folden has zero loyalty to UM and would have jumped ship at any point in the process had someone offered him another HC gig. He proved that when he openly groveled for the Ped State job.

You want to know someone who was actually loyal to UM and turned down huge raises from other programs while he was DC here? Randy Shannon. Where'd that get him?

P.S. Great job taking the bull by the horns, OP. You're a UM hero. Moar articles! Great stuff.

We as fans must follow the exact steps that programs like Michigan and even Florida took when they were beyond disappointed with their head coach. I remember Michigan student body filing a petition to get the AD fired along with Brady Hoke and fans stopped showing up to the games to make their **** point. Florida did the same as well this season and last season for Muschamp.

The administration want to act this way and be content with mediocrity when many of the fans are spending their hard earned money not only on season tickets but also investing money for activities such as tailgating and buying overpriced concession foods...then fu$k it make a statement and stop supporting the administration

No

Just no.

Re - read the initial post in this thread for clarification. Do it several times of you have to.

NO

I did. I think you need to read my post in this thread for clarification. Do it several times if you have to.

You yourself failed to clarify exactly what your issue with my argument is, but I have a pretty good guess as to what it may be. And it is imaginary.

Never once did I use "the cloud" as an argument to explain away Al Golden's brazen incompetence or abject failure at coaching and recruiting. I simply pointed out that Al Golden, his camp, and the National Media (particularly) will use it against us should we fire Al Golden "prematurely." You're talking about hard feelings, university politics, and big money. **** can get messy with any one of these three, and there are a lot of angles to consider before making a move that could potentially bind all of them together in a coalescent ocean of *****. All I am saying is that sometimes the right move for the football team also happens to be the wrong move for the athletic department and the university. I'm not justifying anything.

It's amazing that given all you so factually and eloquently articulated that there are those who support Golden! Here he is with video, bloody knife in hand standing over the body, soaked in blood and still there are those that say he's innocent! Lost 11 of last 19! Incredible! It's more to this story than we're being led to believe.

It makes no difference whether or not Golden received any legitimate offers to coach at Penn State, or any other university for that matter. It doesn't matter whether he has any actual loyalty. What matters is that, publicly, it looks as though Golden has had offers from his Alma Mater. It looks as though he has shown us loyalty. Coaches thinking about coming to Miami and the National Media aren't going to look at it that deeply.

At Miami, you have to consider the fact that we are a highly successful football program that doesn't offer a lot of money. When going after a coach, we have to convince them that they can build a dynasty that can cement their legacy as one of the all time great college coaches. When you don't have Alabama or Notre Dame type money, your only currency is your reputation and your loyalty. There's a much bigger game at play here than what you guys are considering. College football is big business and big money; Same rules apply.

This man lost 4 games in a row and 3 to unranked teams that we were a favorite in each. I don't think this has ever happened at Miami.

The "loyalty" thing with Golden is hilarious. Loyalty would have been sticking it out with UM under the terms of his existing contract. Instead, he held the program hostage and asked for an undeserved extension that is currently preventing us from canning him. Whether in the form of his buyout or a continued handsome paycheck that is not commensurate with the garbage job that he is doing, Golden will have been rewarded handsomely for his "loyalty" in one way or another. The guy is a fraud, and any potential coaching candidate would know that we had a **** good reason to fire him.

Jimbo, McElwain, and every other college coach trying to get into South Florida probably asks themselves the same question while licking their chops.

The buyout that's apparently influencing our joke of an administration to sit on its hands was a self-inflicted f*** up. Fans sure as **** weren't calling for Golden to be extended after he went 6-6 in Year 1 here. They caused this mess and are stubbornly burying their heads in the sand because they don't care at all about UM athletics. It's a sad state of affairs.

If it's really about a measly couple million dollar buyout (and it's not), then shut the program down anyway because we'll never compete with Michigan, Ohio state, bama, ufayg and any other programs willing to spend money to make money.

This ain't 1984. You gotta spend these days. And if you're not even willing to scratch out some lame buyout payment over the course of several years, then just switch it the fck off.

That's a drop the mic and walk away kind of stat
