Article: Deuces Jimbo: Coley Accepts The OC Gig

Holy crap Wikipedia is fast

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Coley

"James Coley (born April 14, 1973, in Miami, Florida) is an American college football coach who currently is the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at the University of Miami, having filled the same role at Florida State University previously."

WHOA.... What is Mario going to Coach?

JC

We've got more TE corches than any staff in the history of football.

And our head corch was a tight end in college.

I guess I am in the skeptical side on this one.

No real QB coach, no real coordinator.

Thoughts?

Dude, its ******* wikipedia. Whoever edited it probably just switched the school name. Coley will probably be the OC and QB coach, Mario is TE coach. Done.

We got TE corches coaching tight end, wide receiver, quarterback.

EVERYONE'S getting tight end coaching.

Tim Tebow should come to Miami.

TE's are almost like Catchers in Baseball

Huh

Majority of the managers in baseball are former catchers. They ran the pitching staff and still know what it's like to be an everyday player, so they identify with everybody and are knowledgeable about pitching AND hitting.

Tight Ends run block, pass block, AND run routes in the passing game. TE's and LB's have the greatest mix of physicality and skill.

I'm probably reaching, but at least that's my logic on it.

Me to a recruit.

"FSU? You mean that school whose coaches are all bailing? Yeah, you should go there, sounds like that house is in order."

What type of offense would u like to see him run?

Will this continue to be a pass first team?

I think you are. QB is a cerebral position as is DB (maybe LB).

I'm not sure that people truly understand just how gangster this power move was by Alshermond. He walked into our biggest instate rival's Head Corch's house and cuckolded that motherfugger. Flat out cuckolded him. I'm not even sure Alshermond is convinced Coley is a genius playcaller, but I can just picture him and Cristobal cooking this idea up and laughing their a$$es off about how gangster it would be to send the message that fsu is now our bytch and a dying program that they just put on life support.

Al needs to change the spelling of his last name to Goldon because this dude is the Don of College Football. I crowned him a few weeks when he signed Sandland. Well, I just Donned that big strapping motherfugger with the hair of Zeus right now. Golden should now default to Goldon.
I'm still not sure if Golden did this because he really likes Coley, wants another recruiter, or just to prove that he could.

Don't care. I just love this move and the message it sends. Gangster!

Question for all the "I'm not sure, but I trust AG guys":

Does that feeling now apply to D'Onfrio as well?

Coley will be able to give out some nice FSU offensive secrets for the matchup this year.

Kind of weird that this will be the first coordinator in Canes history who will be heavily evaluated before he ever calls a play, to the point it could severely tilt his reputation.

I don't pretend to follow recruiting closely. What is par for Coley? Among a list of names that he is involved with, does he need to sway 2 of 4 to break par? Or 1 of 4, depending who that 1 is?

I'm asking because I have no idea. I'm dubious that kids switch allegiance in the final two weeks, based solely on one coach or recruiter. I'm aware it happens. I remember the Cal/Washington scenario a year ago. I'm worried we're assuming too high. As in any situation, I'm leery of 40% subjective adjustments when it's really closer to 10%, based on all my Las Vegas background in expectations and outcomes. I have no doubt he'll do fantastic with a full year to recruit kids toward Coral Gables. In two weeks...not so sure.

Regardless, I'm excited about a home town guy, and someone who impressed both Saban and Bellichick. When a name like this shows up out of nowhere, there's reason for it. Once Coley's name surfaced the way it did, I was very confident he would be the guy.
