Armondo Blount (not hurt, not in portal)

Yeah. Praying we inject him with the most Russian of steroids
Yea I’ve said it multiple times we are located in ped hot bed absolutely no reason kids can’t put on mass with the right combo of hgh trt and nutrition
To me it just means they aren’t serious

If these kids want to be paid like pros
They better train like pros

200-225 g of protein with 3500 Cals daily and serious weight training should work. Kid needs to train like a bodybuilder

I didn’t think he looked that thin. Not like a moss type

Definitely not a Moss type. But still thin framed bones and muscles relative to the typical benchmarks.

Blount is already where he needs to be, McConathy is in the ballpark. Rudolph looks to have the frame to add the weight quickly. Pickett and Lighhtfoot need to “work at it “ the most. Those two I would expect are slow and steady adds so they don’t lose their burst.

He’s a DE-He’s got great bend, very twitchy, super quick and super athletic-Was a great track&field athlete in high school-Won state championship in the shot put and 3rd in the discus—Had Olympic potential in the shot put he was one of the best in the nation.

**** I had no clue about the track and field stuff. Good stuff

He will need higher calories than that due to practices and lifting. 4500.

And it's probably why some kids struggle. It's tough to eat 5k good calories.

Drinking them and bad food is the easier way.

We still need one more DL and a veteran LB in the Spring portal before the word elite is used.
Why do we always say we need a veteran? We had veterans all over the defense last year. What did that amount to? There are only 2 LB positions. There's so much talent in the room. That talent needs to play.

The same thing goes for the DL. Bain needs to move to DT. If he stays at DE, it a selfish move that won't benefit him or the team. He's going to play DT in the NFL. He could be the next Aaron Donald if he embraces the move. We have so many talented DEs. We can't keep them on the sidelines and expect them to stay in the program. I would have benched Baron after game 4 and played the young guys. You learn and grow by playing in games. The young studs need to play significant roles in 2025 so that they are absolutely elite in 2026.

It doesn’t matter if the kid is 220 or 250, if he can’t be blocked he should be on the field. And if he can’t get off blocks he should be on the bench. This goes for a couple of guys on the roster.

At some point you have to see if they can do it on the field. Never letting them play bc of their weight is stupid. You recruited them bc they’re elite pass rushers. Find out if it translates at this level. If they can do it at 230, why are you slowing them down to get to some imaginary metric of 240-250?

Scheme is probably going to change, doubt they’ll go with 2 linebackers.
Please remember late in the season they were running with a few of these youngsters at LB and we got run over. Not saying they won’t improve, but they need another LB out of the portal for experience and depth. I agree we have some guys at DE that should have played last year, this has to be their year, we don’t need anyone from the portal at end.

Thank you. The weight conversations KILL me. They're so pointless and stupid. They don't correlate to being able to ball.

MF just be typing to type. "He needs to get to about 280 before he can play". Mf how do you know? Shut up.

I'm one for the talent over experience. You only get experience by playing and learning from mistakes. However, college football is doing the opposite. At least with most teams. I've made the argument that recruits are better off going to a smaller programs where they can play right away and then transfer because teams like Miami are taking guys out of the portal with experience over their own home grown players who are more talented, but don't have the experience. It doesn't make sense to me, but that's what is happening.

Our WR situation is case and point. We didn't rotate any of the young WRs last year. Now, everyone says we need a 2nd WR from the portal because we don't have experience. So, we're just portaling over 2 inexperienced WRs with transfers who have experience. The inexperienced WRs will fall further behind not getting the game reps they need. Meanwhile, over at Clemson, Dabo started 2 freshman WRs.

I don't want to get off of point in this thread, which is about Blount. My point is playing young players is a choice. Mario will play young players if they are exceptional or he doesn't have a choice. He's really risk adverse and will chose experience over talent 9/10 times in my opinion. I think it's a mistake. He clearly thought all veterans he brought in on defense would get him an ACC title and CFP birth. Clearly it didn't. I want the young player to play this year. I think they can still compete for an ACC title in 2025, and in 2026 would have an elite squad favored to win the ACC and make a deep run into the CFP. I believe you have to rotate players at nearly all positions so they'll have the experience and confidence to be the starter the following year.

Hopefully Lightfoot and Pickett can get into the 240 range this year. They are so explosive off the edge, something we definitely missed last year.
Yaa feel like Pickett not being talked about enough he was last years Lowe jus weighed 30 pounds less we need some quik DE last year we were def slow there wanna see Bain get back to himself too. I think we'll look night an day better on D i wouldnt be suprised if its a top 15 group. They were just lost last year its like Guidry had them runnin thereself out of plays puttin them in terrible postion to succeed. That should change! Big time

He came back to play DE. I think that was a promise to get him back. No way he’s playing inside. More likely Bain moves in on high probability passing downs.
Someone said on a Podcast Bain doesn’t want to play DT. It might be his best position for the future but forcing him there might not the best thing to do

Saw this post on X from offseason work outs. Was surprised to see how trimmed down Blount looks. I always assumed he was going to grow into DT but it's looking like DE all the way. Hoping he can contribute this season. I know he graduated early so he's still a youngste

He looks slimmer but more put together than last season. Looks like a DE all day instead of moving inside as some suggested last year.

We are very close to many things beginning to click on the DL. Central to this is Rueben Bain and where he ends up lining up this year. Bain screams natural 3tech to me and it's no secret that he has had to put in a herculean effort just to stay at 280-285. He needs to quit fighting against the inevitable and make the move inside. If Bain can move inside and establish himself as a force there then that will send shock waves through not just the DL but the entire defense. Imagine the following DL..

DE Blount/Lightfoot/Pickett
DT Bain/Moten/Horton
DT Blay/Scott/Jones
DE Mesidor/Lowe/McConathy

Of course the above assumes significant jumps from Blount, Scott and Lightfoot plus Lowe being a big factor as a true freshman which I think he will be.
I agree with this. Bain could be a better version of Zane Durant on our d front next season.

Agreed. He will get there eventually but the weight obsession is a bit overblown if the kid can flat out play

He was destroying people at the all American practices so I think 18+ months in our S&C program he should be a contributor this year
