Are we 2023 Washington?

We are the 2024 Miami Hurricanes.

Only analogous I can think of rn is 2019 LSU.

Defensively 29th in ypp, we are currently 40th...but 5.11ypp to our 5.09. Miami is at 6.3 defensive ypa passing, LSU at 6.4.

Roster Construction isn't so different, just different emphasis. Miami the lines, LSU the periphery.

Generational QB.
Backs that fit the offense.
They are better at WR, we are better on the OL

They are better personnel at DB, us better DL.

Kiko won't be drafted as high as Queen, but leaders of the defense.

Clutch kicker.

LSU had a better DC and OC which is the biggest difference between the two teams. Aranda just makes Guidry look very much less than.

Good analysis, sir.

The QB/WR trio of Joe Cool, Justin Jefferson and Ja'Marr Chase is hands-down the best ever, imo

Tigahs put up 46 on Saban in Tuscaloosa and averaged over 50 in the two playoff games.

Canes 2024 not even in the same solar system with that offense. At least not yet

we are not as talented obviously as that 2019 offense

but we are performing as good as them through 7 games

I was pretty early on the Joe Burrow is going to be the first overall pick. Have posts on here calling him Aaron Rodgers pretty early in the season. Ja'Marr Chase looked like Michael Irvin out there...he was awesome.

The LSU team was much better from a personnel standpoint on the high end and lap our coordinators a few times over. The position coaches end up washing out IMO. I'd put Mirabal and Jason Taylor up against any position coaches in the nation at their position.

2019 LSU is the best modern team...theyd beat everybody but our last championship team...we aren't that, but analogous enough...for now.

I dont think we are like UW. Dont think we could beat(win a shootout) against the top tier teams. I think we could score but doubt we could get enough stops

LSU '19 and Bama '20 would've been a helluva matchup ... Devonta Smith, Najee Harris, Jaylen Waddle before he went down, Mac Jones, Landon ****erson, Alex Leatherwood - good in college, Little Surtain, Malachi Moore, young Will Anderson, etc, etc.

Tide had SIX first-round picks in the 21 draft

I've always felt like Saban would've found a way to get the best of Coach O in a hypothetical matchup, especially with Bama being significantly better than LSU on defense

Udud last year benefitted greatly from Dan Lanning corching Oregon to defeat in both games they played.

Similar at theses positions:
Qb
OL

They have the edge at:
WR
DB

Debatable:
DL
LB

I think we’re better at RB and tight end as a whole. They did have a good tight end tho.

The close game luck similarity is strong and the gunslinger qb. Although penix disappeared a little mid season. Then his a stride. Odunze was a monster tho. We don’t have that guy. Not even close. That Washington team beat Oregon twice and Texas. They were dam good and came up big in big games

Couple things:

1) I like the 2023 comparison way more than 2019 LSU. We arent that 2019 LSU team. We may have similar, if not better, stats but our schedules arent/werent the same. They dominated the best of the best that year. At the time they played and handled 7 top 10 teams. When the season ended 5 of those 7 were top 10 teams and the other 2 top 25.

2). Meesh is what he is but I dont think people realize that it would be worse without him. He is a net positive for our secondary as it is currently constructed, we just suck.

I was thinking this today and I think it's an apt comparison. Washington rode a generational QB and a good OL/skill guys on offense + a bad defense to the national championship game. When people mention we have a starter from a team who played in the national championship that doesn't mean that much given it was a really bad defense. But that defense played well enough to beat Utah, Texas, and Oregon twice and I'm not sure we could do that right now.
generational QB ? First time I hv heard that

I still think the title game would’ve been closer if their running back was healthy. Luckily we have 4 legit RBs who can give you great production. I love Penix but Cam is better because of his improv. After the injuries, Penix was hesitant to run.

F+ has both us and the LSU as having the number 2 offenses in the country.

The difference is that 2019 LSU had the 13th ranked defense. We are 42.

they just played some legit offenses, that made their defense looks worse than it was.
