Apparent 4 way tie for JHC

How much of a contender will Miami be to UGA and the other finalists for Josh Harvey-Clemons?

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound linebacker from Lowndes High School will announce his highly-anticipated decision at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday on national TV. Harvey-Clemons is the state’s No. 1-ranked prospect, according to ESPN.

What about Miami? For the record, they are co-leaders with UGA, Florida and FSU. But the Hurricanes may have some catching up to do if you listen to Woodrow Clemons, the grandfather and legal guardian of the 5-star prospect.

Clemons has ranked the recruiting trips to UGA, Florida and FSU as an “8” on a scale of 1-10. What about this weekend’s visit to Miami? “Overall, I’d probably give them a 7, well a 6 or a 7.”

“We enjoyed our trip down there. But I guess at this point, pretty much all of them are about the same. There wasn’t anything about Miami that was any different than the other schools, other than the academics. The scholastic level down there is better than the rest of them. But with the football program, they seem like they are on a different level than Florida, Georgia and Florida State. They compare a little different down there.”

We asked Clemons for a “hint” on which school that Josh may pick: “Tuesday night, we’ll sit down and talk about it – me, my wife and Josh. There’s no other contact or calls with the colleges that we’ll have. The questions have been answered. We have to talk, and then Josh has just got to utter the words out of his mouth on Wednesday morning.”

Memo to Mark Richt, Jimbo Fisher, Will Muschamp and Al Golden: Harvey-Clemons can’t take your phone calls over the next couple of days.

That’s because Josh lost his phone at the Fat Tuesday’s restaurant during his official visit to Miami, according to his grandfather. “We lost it there, and went back to get it later that night and the place was closed,” Clemons said. ‘The Miami coaches said they would help get the phone back to us.”

The AJC Super 11 selection and his family are ready for recruiting to be over. “Josh has enjoyed the visits and meeting everybody, but he’s ready to get it over,” Clemons said. “We’re all excited that Wednesday is coming up so we can go ahead and close this chapter and move on to other things.”

You would think Grandpa would like the academics part but I guess not..
You think UM is checking his phone for any violations from UF or UGA lol..

Yeah, like we have as many National Titles as all of them combined.
yea but for some reason no one outside of Miami knows that

I just find it silly when these kids prop up Florida State and schools like Georgia and whatnot...its silly. FSU's been just as bad as us for as long as us and has always been our little brother. I don't hate on kids going to FSU, but don't blow smoke either. Georgia ain't won a thing since 1980.

If you want to say Florida, LSU, Alabama, USC, Texas...man, I feel ya...they've been winning programs lately.

But don't come at me with FSU and Georgia and schools of similar non-existence.

Very confusing comments, but I'm thinking this is a UGA-UF battle. We got in on him too late, but again, peddling a sorry on field product, 6-6 record and looming NCAA pun, kudos to the staff for battling with $ec heavyweights for nationally coveted kids.

Good things are coming.....

Grandpa says the schools are all basically the same, but Miami has a better education?

Just for a moment, it's entirely possible the kid comes to Miami just to get away from the old man. Get here where it's warm, lights, breeze, and with a program that is truly building momentum.

Georgia? Someone throw dirt on it - the prognosis is NOT looking good.

FSU? A more storied Georgia.

Grandfathers an idiot. Nothing different from Miami then those hick towns... lulz

He obviously just wants him to stay close by.

Somebody need to learn these kids some history.

Right now that is all that we have (history) we don't compare to those teams in wins or national appeal lately. These kids barely remember the 2000-2001 squads. So they are going on what they see now. UGA (SEC championship game), Florida (2 mnc), and FSU (2 great recruiting classes + the national media keeps picking them every year to explode) although they have yet to do it. So as a parent I can see what he meant by the football program not being on the same level. The truth is we are NOT at this moment.
