Anyone else think we beat BC by at least 2 touchdowns?

They were blown out by VT. FSU, Clemson UCF.....lost at home to Northwester...and Duke last year.....

yes the lost Luke K......they are not better this year..he has 180+ tackles alone. He owned us his last game..he knew and played like the champion he is....

How did they beat us last year?
Caught us dead at the end of the season and out-of-shape?

I don't even remember the BC game

Honestly, I think a big part of it was the announcement that we weren't going to a bowl game. It seemed to take the wind out of our sails.

Very listless performance. Plus, Jacory had a meltdown game.

But to BC's credit, they had been playing a little bit better at the end of the season.

Did I see somebody say that our RB crew was going to be better than last year? You do realize Lamar isn't coming back...right?

Yes, we can beat BC by 2 TD's. And we can lose to them by 2 TD's. I really have no idea.

Until i see it proved otherwise on the field, i agree with the above analysis. I like these early practice reports, but i gotta see results on the field.

I'm drinking the Duke kool-aid. RB is one of the few positions where a freshman can make an immediate impact.

I also expect Mike James to be better now that he's healthy.

Plus Wardo Clements has more experience.

As dynamic as Miller was, he faded as the seasoned progressed (likely due to the hurt shoulder).

Look for the run-blocking to be better as well.

At the moment RB and WR are down from last year if you put blind optimism away. Streeter carried Jacory at times and no one (outside of Duke maybe) can bring what Miller brought last year. Sad but true. Even Benjamin would probably be the top WR on the team if he were able to come back.

The improvements and reports are nice but let's be serious. We need some guys to really step up.

I'm saying though I think our D ***** them up. I feel good about our starters on D right now.

I don't care what anyone says, Harris leaving makes us a better team. I don't care how much we win by...just win...and we will.

I don't see a remarkably better team than last year. I mean, I hope so, but I don't see it. We lost Miller and Streeter. We lost our best LBer in Spence as well.

Yep. And we won't be better at QB I don't think. But, that BC game saw UM at a low point, no post season, nothing to play for, a dismal record, and yet they would have won if not for a final JH interception display.

If we can't outplay BC, we can't outplay 9 other teams on our schedule.

We played BC on 5 days rest, after losing our bowl game, and Jacory had flashbacks to the 09 UNC game. All of that and we still barely lost.

No reason that we can't rout BC with a spirited effort.

Jacory leaving was better for us. Yeah he managed the game good, but after the snap the difference seriously drop against our favor. He telegraphed passes, shorts took really long to get to our playmakers thus negating our speed/open space factor, deep balls gave too much time to the opposing secondary to make a play. When we played ND, Jacory played like a little b*** after they found out Randy was fired and I gave him a pass. Then he pulled the same nonsense against BC after we found out that we're missing a bowl game. Coincidence? I think not. I'm sure he's a good kid, but I wish we would've stuck with Marve to be honest.

I actually like our RBs better than last year because I like our line better than last year. Brandon Washington was a disappointment even when he moved back inside and Orlando Franklin, though consistent, didn't bring what he was expected to bring. Lamar Miller is a special talent but he lacked strength as a runner and was really effective when he was near-full/full speed. Duke in 3 years will better than a RS Soph Lamar Miller mark that down. Not specifically faster, but he already possesses better vision, cutback ability, balance, and center of gravity than Miller had coming in. With Miller out of the way, I'm excited to see what OT does behind Mike James and I think everyone's sleeping on him because of Duke.

I think Street is getting too much respect here because he had such an awesome relationship with Jacory. I've never forgotten how many times he dropped passes and didn't attack the ball like should've. Hey, if it's not in the perfect spot for me why bother? We will definitely miss Benjamin, but just like the Duke-Lamar comparison, I think Dorsett is a better wide-receiver than TB3 was at the same stage. But ****, I only hope Dorsett is as dangerous as TB3 in open space. I don't think our WR's will skip a beat from last year's corp. Allen Hurns has good size and enough speed to get separation on this level. He also has better hands that Streeter and is much more physical. The reports on Dorsett are encouraging but I'll hold my reservations until I see him in game time. The fact that he's added more muscle and keep his quickness will bode well for him. I said on CaneInsider that Lockhart is our best WR coming in, even over Malcolm Lewis, and I'm sticking by that. You'll see more of Lockhart in goal line situations with Hurns on the edge. Young, but a lot of depth. The good thing about WRs is that it's one of the easier positions to transition to from HS to college if you can adjust to physical part of the game.

If Morris can find the guys in open space, it's game over. Because of our speed and talent, our QB has almost always been the catalyst for our team.

Agreed that the potential is there. You saying Duke will be better in a few years than Miller is irrelevant though when we are talking about this game.

Its there, I definitely believe we are a better overall team than last year but we are kidding ourselves if we think the production of Miller, Streeter, and Benjamin will so easily be replaced. Not saying they were all time Cane greats, just saying the guys that remain have a lot to prove.
