Any Word On Grimble?

5 Star recruit, now becoming and upperclassmen, at our weakest position. How have we never heard a word about him in 2 1/2 years? Anybody got any light to shed on his development? DT looks reallly shaky next year as is, and its looking like Pierre might blow up. Looks like Luther Robinson is finally coming around, anybody still have hope for Grimble, or it is what it is at this point?

should have never played a down as a freshman. Was the perfect candidate for a RS like Jimmy Gaines he was young for his class at just turning 17..

Looks like he's working hard to remain 3rd string. Just goes to show it's not all about the stars.

He wasnt really a 5 star to begin with. The only place that had him highly rated like that was Scout and IMHO they like to go full potato with their rankings. He dropped in the rankings on Rivals real fast. In the end he signed with us because USC didnt even want him. On top of all of that it does not help that he is a tweener. Not big enough for DT and too slow for DE.

We used to get 1 and 2 stars who ended up performing like 5 stars; now ... that's reversed.
 
Dude was a 5 star against Vegas competition....as a DE. We put weight on him and asked him to play on the inside, but some guys just don't blossom in the trenches, going from DE to DT. Never know what could have been if we allowed him to stay around 250LBS.

Still might be serviceable as a 3-4 package DE though...

Some poster on another thread that after seeing Brandon McGee and davon Johnson do complete turnarounds late in their careers I will no longer give up on anyone again. Could be a late bloomer. Someone said it best. He should have redshirted.

Yeah because it's not like DLineman haven't been known to take a couple years to adapt to college before becoming a player in their 3rd or 4th year or anything.

He really should be going into his RS sophomore year right now. Not going to write him off yet.

A kid from Vegas who was not hotly recruited by area powers, who we 'snag' at the last minute right after a December corching change, is not someone we should be getting excited about, whether he's got 5 stars or 3.

He was obviously overranked. But it was obvious before he ever showed up on campus. I specifically wrote this that year when we signed him. And I'm not patting myself on the back by saying that. Like I said, it was obvious.
