I look across CFB and see kids we were in the thick of it with making plays everywhere. Talent acquisition and talent evaluation is not an issue with Mario in control. Thankful for him and this staff as a whole. Can't win them all, but so grateful for Mario being at Miami.
we also went all in on Cormani....

Oh I agree with you completely. I just phrased that wrong. Basically what I should have said was that we have had mediocre to bad LB play for the past 20 plus years with a few exceptions. Most notable of those exceptions were Spence and Perryman but even they weren't close to the type of player Anthony Hill is.

Back when LBs like Nate Webster, Dan Morgan, Jon Vilma and DJ Williams were coming through, I thought it was normal to have players like that and took it for granted. I knew WRs like Reggie and Santana were awesome but I always assumed that there would be others like them. I thought it was normal to have a FS like Ed Reed who would somehow get these timely interceptions whenever we needed them. I knew he was really good but I just assumed we would get someone else just as good. Sean Taylor came soon after so I wasn't wrong but that just destroyed my ability to understand that what I was witnessing was not normal or anywhere close to being normal. I along with many others was thoroughly spoiled therefore I wasn't ready to wrap my brain around the drastic fall the program was about to take. It's been a long 20+ years.
For me the one thing I watch now and realize how much I took it for granted was the Tremain macks of the world. The Roscoe's, the Darnell's. The dudes who were special teams game changers. Who not only did you not wanna kick the ball to them but more importantly like in Tremains case, would come get that ball of your foot. Special teams pressure, blocking punts, blocking fg,extra points. Those lil moments are what changes games and creates champions. We used to get that lecture but Lord has these last 20 years or so proved that point. We don't even try to pressure kicks anymore. Hurts my soul.

zayquan Patterson is similar.

Id like Bobby Wash to as he has shown to harness special team ability and would like him to be a guy you send to block kicks etc

Johnson almost broke a kick return. Our PR has been really bad since Berrios, and he was one of the most conservative returners we've ever had. As far as punt blocking, I honestly don't understand why we don't get after the punter more often. If we were setting up returns all the time, sure. But as just noted, our PR game has been non-existent. So bring more guys.

Just asking did we have a legitimate shot? If I recall we leaked his visit and then he committed like the next day to Tejas
His visit was leaked by two individuals that I'm aware of One of them being on staff and I think people are more than aware I've been quite critical of over the years The other one I won't bother to say his name. However as far as did we have a legitimate shot. Yeah, we definitely did. In this nil stage of recruiting there's a lot of background work done that no one's going to hear a thing about. But everything that matters is done in a heartbeat. If you remember correctly he was committed to Texas A&m one day then committed to Texas the next while he was supposed to have been visiting us that weekend. From what I know about his recruitment, we were heavily into it for months. Only for two dip****s to jump the gun. So me, while everyone ******* and moans about Mario not giving access for this or not, I'd say just remember moments like this for the opposite side to that coin

I've been had this conversation with several staff. End of the day ONLY dude who would put fear in me out of special teams is Robbie Washington on return side and both of them at gunner etc.

Yeah, but I'm not crazy (right now) about Johnson back there either. Only cause Johnson as fast as he is, seems to simply be a straight line runner. Not much shiftiness to him. That'll work with certain teams. But not like you really get many opportunities these days. Gotta take advantage of the spare ones we get

Colin McCarthy, Jon Beason we’re also solid LBers

Yes, it was Tucker, iirc.

And I know folks swear he would have been ours had he visited that weekend but I don't buy it. The only difference if he had visited us would have been that his asking price would have gone up for Texas but he'd still be a Longhorn.
The media guy leak? What staff is he on?
