Not trying to make a *** reference but has anyone noticed how similar Chickillo and Michael Sam play?

Both have a high motor but lack of athleticism. I was just watching Mike Sam highlights on ESPN today and he looks identical to Chickillo.

Before his JR year when I scouted Chickillo, I would have put a mid 2nd to high 3rd on his draft grade.

After seeing where Sam was drafted I would put a low 6th to high 7th on Chickillo barring a HUGE SR season. Really made me sad realizing Chickillo was either under developed or over hyped.

I would love it if Chick had similar production his senior season (11.5 Sacks and 19 TFL). I would take that in heartbeat.

They really don't play alike. Perhaps if Chick were asked to slim down and play in a different role.

You are saying Chick plays like the co SEC defensive player of the year?

I love Chick and have been a huge proponent of his and felt he has been asked to do too much, but unless his production improves he's going late round or UFA.

He was asked to gain too much weight and lost whatever little speed he had. Misused and will go in the 7th round or even undrafted.

He is not explosive enough as a pass rushing DE for the NFL.

You can blame his lack of development on the coaching staff if you want to, but I think he was more of a finished product before he arrived here.

Chick came in at 230. He's over 280 now. Finished product my ***.

Edit: And somehow his sack numbers have decreased each season he's been here along with his TFL staying virtually the same from his freshman season to junior season.

sam is a 3-4 DE/LB that can't cover. are they really the same guy?

Sam is the SIZE of a 3/4 LB but has the skillset of an inline DE...thus his fall in the draft.

Chickillo is a different sort of tweener. But I think this board has swung too far against Chickillo. I think he is a mid-round (4th or 5th) guy because he will be a system fit for 3-4 teams who won't have to teach him a new position AND he is pretty strong, disciplined, team captain, etc.

@Chickillo71 Thank you to my man man @tmphd74 for always having a plan to help me reach my goal weight #ThankUMonday
