Offense

* Morris was obviously playing not to make a mistake since we had the lead. He was playing not to lose, and i think our offensive coordinator was too, and morris lost his mojo trying to be game manager, thats so no his strong suit. However he was off big time, very inaccurate on simple throws too, i think that was due to play calling to a certain point. He was in a grove and it seemed like we slowed down

*Florida played our offense perfect they left Waters and Dorsett 1 on 1 a bunch of times and we had them beat. Morris wasnt even looking for the deep ball.. I dont know if that snot his first option or what. But he was definitely out of sync with Dorsett who got behind his man several times.

*We kept Cleveland and Walford into block so many times they couldnt make an impact down the field.

* We were running great first half.. duke 8 carries 46 yards. They made some serious adjustments second half.. and we started to try to run out of a 2wr set..It wasnt working. We run better out of 3 wr set when they are spread out. Coley completely changed his sets in second half and went basic..Bad move coley It completely ***ed our offense

* We still dont have an indentity on offense. We went 3wide first half then pro set 2nd half..WHats up with that?

* Malcom Bunche and mcdermott were abused by Easley

Defense

* Luther Robinson was dominating when he was in, he pushed the OL #73 and #64 in the backfield numerous plays

* Jenkins was everywhere, Thurston was everywhere, Perryman was everywhere

* A lot of their pass plays happened when we rushed only 3 guys.. Think we did it a little too much, but I understand Coach D's thinking lets see if he throws some more picks...

*When we have Shayon at OLB hes a liability big time... No explosion... Oh if we had #44 I think we could be a top 25 defenseI know hes there to set the edge but man does he look outta place out there Were in need of a big fluid linebacker. But that will be Mccord and Muhammed in the future when they become every down players

I love our Zone defense when Mccord, Mohammed, and Gilbert rushing the passer...when shayon and chickillo rushing not so much..

Golden has said in these interviews of his that he reigned the O in to be conservative when he saw his defense perform so well and understood the strength of the Gator defense as the game progressed. He put this game in the defense's hands, not wanting to surrender a Gator defensive score. The Gators would have to earn a win by proving they could score on offense.

Good post. I agree with you regarding not having an identity to a degree. I just think that we don't have a passing identity particularly verses man coverage. The owl roughed up our receivers on shallow crossing routes, and the gator smothered us all over the field. We need to figure out something conceptually to combat man coverage, which would include Morris getting the middle linebacker to open up opposite play side.

Listen to his interview with Rose on QAM and with Tim Brando on his CBS show.

He personally took the blame for Morris' interception saying he never should have permitted a deep throw at that point in the game. They should have played to punt and forced FL to earn their yardage.

Disagree that Dorsett was running open. Any examples because I rewatched the game and their CB had our WRs on lock down. Walford was open a decent amount and Morris failed to take advantage of that.

Green, who played OLB the whole game, may not be smooth in his drops but he was extremely effective vs the run. Gilbert did a nice job as well.

Our nickel/pass rush group in AQM, Chick, LRob, McCord. They did a good job of getting pressure in those situations. Chick played a monster game overall.

If you put Malcolm and Coley in there instead of Horns and Dorsett the offense would flourish in 3WR of Herb,Coley,Lewis that's a defensive nightmare and crazy mismatches

Rewatching the game, the thing I noticed is that UM hit Driskel a lot. Cant remember the last time the Canes hit a QB as much in a big game.

What does everyone think about how we will match-up against, what looks like, much more talented FSU team?

FSU's defense pales in comparison to the GATA. Easley might be the best defensive lineman in the country. Fowler and Powell would be the best defensive lineman on FSU's squad. The GATA 3rd best corner would be the best on FSU. Of course, Winston makes FSU more capable offensively, but saying that FSU is more talented is simply wrong.

right on the money!
two things u said-
1. green is a liability! I feel like im taking crazy pills when i see him on the field.
2. L. robinson was beasting it up. dont be surprised if he starts next to porter!

one play?
****, watch the whole game. He has no pass rush! He anchors in and chills!
that is why he gets a couple of tackles every now and then
he is not active at all.
This is why he doesnt get TFL or Sacks.
Comparing him to other starting DE's i college is crazy.

Yes he did say that. Sometimes you have to win ugly. This was case in point. We got the win...move on.

true! he said this on the Jim Rome show also. he instructed coley to be conservative once we were up 14-6, this is the juncture where the O changed dramatically. Golden also said that he got too conservative a few times. in the end, we won and only allowed 2 scores following a blocked punt and prevent defense.

I think that you might be selling the 'Noles short here. The Gaytors might have the better a player on the d-line but the 'Noles have more quality depth there. Also, their defensive backfield is stacked with future NFL draft picks.

Just because we got somewhat fortunate against the Gaytors doesn't mean that we have closed the talent-gap between ourselves and UF and FSU. We are headed in the right direction and I think the "really bad" UM teams are behind us but I think our fan base should pump the breaks here and realize what we really have THIS year. Regardless, the future is bright.

I'd like to see deeper crossing routes and more combo routes. Coley did run two tight end sets and he also started to go max protect with his tight end. I thought he had the opportunity to run dig and seam with his tight end in the second half. When Florida was pinning their ears back then run screen. They could have run wheel to Hagens. He's the forgotten guy.

According to a NFL draft website I visited yesterday, the Gators have 3 corners (Purifoy, Roberson, and Watkins) that are 1st-3rd round picks.
