Another from insidetheu about Kirby

Neal I'm not saying Gaines didn't understand what he was doing because I'm sure mentally he got it but physically ohhh lord.... Horrible angles to the ball. Horrible pursuit! The worst part is I believe AG played Gaines because he was a SR. Hurts to say that but it appears the only plausible reason. Kirby would flash every once in a while and it would just **** me off.

Golden has a soft spot for seniors with little ability and then turns around and talks about their leadership which even if it were true gets severely outweighed by their horrible play on the field. I remember last year hearing him big up Highsmith all year but then turned about around and called Gunter out for one bad play.

I do believe he had a soft spot for this past group of seniors who stuck it out and stayed with the program instead of quitting or transferring. Early in the season the media kept asking it Miami was back and Golden kept answering no.

loving these guys attitude. I think that Louisville beating was a wake up call and guys took notice. we cant be great half-assing we need to work harder than anybody else.

Well, they didn't get bailout with a new coaching staff, so if they don't want to be spanked every week in front of the whole world, they better do something themselves.

True and called Duke down for fumbling. This could be good. Maybe he is an ***** after all and was just being soft on the kids who got short-sheeted like he did by the administration. Now if he will just call out his the lame coaching performances each week too, all will be ok. Something better be different this year. A couple repeats of last year's crap without serious action on Al's part and he will lose this team too. I think Al has a soft spot for kids with limited talent that try hard(a self-portrait thing).

not being able to beat out Jimmy Gaines is a real issue for me...I like JG but he was never a D-1 LB slow, mis read plays got burned all the time, and now his back up is potentiality a starter...perryman will be a poor mans Sean spence out there this year

I don't think that's a knock against Kirby. This staff has shown that seniority rules.

well we thought, KST and ND and FSU were wake up calls too...but I hear ya....full steam ahead GO CANES

Your sarcasm stinks. People, can we at least have some positive vibes in the spring and move forward?

“All 11 guys are going to execute better this year,” Kirby said. “It just takes one guy to mess up for an offense to gash us, but I am confident this year we won’t have those kind of busts. Guys are in their playbooks this offseason and are committed. We are a much more mature group right now.”

I hate reading this ****. Shannon used to say this all the time how 1 guy's mess up would result in a huge hole in a defense. This means the defense has no margin for error and requires all 11 guys to execute perfectly every play? It just seems this sets them up for failure.

Believe it or not if your safety ***** up and leaves a man wide open, or a linebacker blows his coverage when he's the only one in the area it does **** it up. Think basketball, if one guys misses their rotation its an easy layup.

The same **** happens on offense, guard misses a block? its a sack. Quarterback overthrows even though everyone runs perfect routes with perfect blocking, it's a pick, receiver trips or drops the ball it's an incomplete.

ITS A TEAM SPORT. That means everyone has to play well and not **** up

Not buying it. Yeah, I get all that. Does this mean that the top defense in the country execute perfectly across the 11 position? Nope. It's the way our defense is built. How are we the only high d1a program with this issue?

Players do, you know improve. Believe it or not it happens and some players take longer than others. Your negative attitude is so god **** annoying.

No they don't.

You must be joking.

I just don't buy this argument anymore. We looked like a Div I-AA team against Louisville.

There was zero excuse for us not to be completely amped and fully prepared for that game, given that we have not been in a bowl in 3 years and we were going against a very good team with a lot of S. Fla players. If we can't prepare mentally and physically for a game with those stakes then we will never be back.

But if you are bringing outstanding pressue then the QB may not have the time to connect with the receiver who gets open bc of the blown coverage.

If we are going to accept that we should be gashed unless all 11 players execute on a play then we should expect our horrific defensive stats in perpetuity.

That's the bottom line. It allows the coaches to escape fault and blame it all on the players. The players start believing it and then they blame themselves. This **** happened with Shannon all the time - he would talk about guys not doing their jobs and that's why we'd get gashed or lose.

Okay....so I point out a fact that JG was not a great or even a solid LB...and there is a possibility that Kirby will be a monster...we all watch the games some closer than others...( cough cough)...LBs is an instinct position and yes players to develop...when we threw Eddie Johnson in there a couple of years ago he was a game changer and you knew he had that instinct, I have not seen that with Kirbs....could it change absolutely and lets hope it does, I still think other guys still have a say who plays that position.

Well the major thing you are forgetting was that eddie johnson got thrown in and was playing the will linebacker position, the easiest out of the three to come in and contribute early. You are coming in free and cleaning up plays from the backside most of the time, doesn't take as much knowledge of the game and is more based on pure hustle and speed hence why sean spence was able to be successful so early here. Kirbs has been asked to learn multiple linebacker spots since he has been here slowing down his development, playing the mike you have to know all the assignments and strength calls etc plus there is more reading the offensive line to key certain run schemes thus making an inexperienced linebacker play less aggressive and slow in the middle. Coaching staff trusted gaines more with getting the team lined up and in position because he knew the system that's why he got the nod along with the reward of being a senior i'm sure...the staff has shown this pattern before just look at highsmith playing over carter the majority of last season, the staff was trying to eliminate mental errors first.
