Andrew chatfield offered by UF

Didnt jaquwan nelson have about 20+ sacks one season in hs. He ended up at syracuse. The number of sacks in hs don't mean shît.

For Fort Lauderdale High. AH schedule>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FTL HS schedule. Nelson was whippin' on 5'10" 230 lb. guys. Chatfield whipped FBS caliber guys every week...

How is Chatfield "college ready"? He didn't win a single rep vs OTs at the Opening, and he looked terrible against 15 year olds at our camp.

He's 220 lbs and his only pass rush move is a speed rush to the outside. He's a project who needs a couple years in the weight room and working on technique wherever he goes

Watch in pads where he dominated on his film at American heritage. 1 on 1s without pads is not real football. Out at the opening he won and loss some reps. What he has shown on film is that he can get after the qb

Ok. Is he going to play American Heritage's schedule in high school? He's a good high school player, but recruiting is about seeing who will be the best college player. I looked at AHS schedule and it seems like he may have faced off with 1 P5 OT.

Joe Jackson had like 6 sacks his last year of HS, should we not have taken him?

Kool wants tall, long athletic freaks. Chatfield just isn't that

He whipped up on 2 Power 5 ot's just in practice at AH with one being expected to play for us. AH has played iMG and a bunch of national schools where Chatfield has made plays against big time players. You really need to do your history.

AHS played IMG last year? That's weird, maybe you need to do your history.

And everybody know Herbert wasn't at his best last year because he was (and I'm not surprised you ignored this) playing hurt.

Again, if he wasn't a Heritage kid, he wouldn't even have a OSU or UF offer. I didn't say he can't play college football. I think he'd be solid at a 3-4 school like Wisconsin. He just doesn't fit what we want in a DE and he's not athletic enough to be a 4-3 OLB.

I'm not sure why it's that difficult to understand. There are plenty of good players this staff doesn't think are fits. Yet Chatfield is the one everyone freaks out about

He didn't say they played them last year. His 10th grade year they did and he outperformed Burns. You need to do your history. Prop Joe, you know we see eye to eye on Drew and you're telling the 100% truth. Drew never saw JV at AH, even Cuz can't say the same. If he was at Carol City(his home school) he'd be doing the same **** thing. Look, the kid is **** near my nephew but if the staff doesn't believe he's a fit I'm cool. But a JAG like a lot of yall in this thread think, he's the furthest thing from it. Count me among those who feel if Toolbox can play here, Drew definitely can...

if you can, settle something for people so it doesn't need to be debated anymore. Will offering Chatfield have any impact on Tyson?

So there's no difference between feasting on scrubs and performing consistently at a high level against ELITE competition in LIVE GAMES???? Uhhh, ok LMAO!!!!

I don't think so personally. I'm sure they'd love to still play with each other in the right situation. But I've never heard either of them say that they're a package deal(obviously they aren't because imo if they were they'd be ****eyes). Drew knows he's too good of a player to be treated like bait for his teammates/buddies...

Chatfield should go to Temple or Northern Illinois or somewhere like that and dominate. He won't get swallowed up there. 6'1 DEs with 5 flat speed don't typically rip **** up at the marquee P5 level.

I trust Kool, but AC's film says player. He makes plays, cant argue that. I trust film much more than a camp setting. He doesn't have 10seconds to get to the QB because of all world CB's, he gets there quick and is relentless in pursuit when the QB stretches the play. He's getting it done against top notch competition too. I think he plays his way into an offer late. Could be too late, we'll see. The log jam at DE is not helping his case. He would be a chip I'd stack though. My $0.02.

Go Canes!

It's not just putting up the numbers also. The kid makes critical plays throughout the game, it's not just padding stats in garbage time. Like I said, maybe we aren't the best fit for him and that's fine, but he's gonna be a playmaker at a legit P5 school(nunna that Temple NIU **** Chise)...

You are missing the point. There are guys in hs thst put up numbers vs good comp in hs that don't end up being good college players.

I knew a DE that went to unc who played vs the worst comp you could possibly find in hs. Im talking not one player had a chance at playing D1. He went to unc and was all acc 2 years in a row and was drafted in the 3rd round by the cardinals a few years ago.

So that hs competion argument doesnt always hold water.

I'm agreeing with you, the fact that 252 doesn't think competition matters is truly amazing

There are a ton of big time recruits that play weak comp in hs. Todd gurley didnt play vs great comp in hs and look what he did immediately in college.Shît happens every year.

I know, I just piggybacked your quote to further elaborate.

And there are lots of examples of those who feast on weak competition and can't handle the talent upgrade. I never said that a big time recruit can't ever flourish on the next level if they played against weak hs competition. Sometimes you can't control where you live and you can only play who you line up across from. The original argument was Nelson's production vs. Drew's, and the fact remains that Drew made his impact against waaaaaaaaaaaay better competition...

Reminds me of Eric Moncur another guy who put up big sack numbers in HS by overpowering smaller OL and taking advantage of the frequently messy pass pro that you get in HS. But it's not a game that translates to elite national championship caliber DE play in college. He can be in the 3 deep but we're not gonna become a playoff contender with a bunch of Andrew Chatfield's playing major minutes at DE. Maybe as others have noted he ends up being productive in a 3-4 scheme but I don't see the necessary lateral movement.

chatfield has started 3 years at Heritage. You do your history..he has played against IMG.

Ive seen more of Herbert than you ever will.....playing hurt??..ok

He is what he is...im not freaking out at all...He isnt a scheme fit cool..neither is Trent Harris but he has made it work..and neitHer is Rousseau who is a current commit at de.

This is a recruiting board made for recruiting conversation...this board gets real dry this time of year.

He has wayyyyy better offers than those two listed.

Every now and then one of these shorter DE ends up being excellent, but it's very tough to predict.

UM and (other big boys at the time) passed on Elvis Dumervil for instance. He was a 6'0 235 DE that ran a 4.85. And he's done nothing but be a beast since.

Not saying Chatfield is going to be Dumervil...Just saying. It can happen, and the kid seems to have a motor.

On the other hand we can all see the reasons that Kuhl seems to prefer some length at the position.

TBH if Chatfield became the next Dwight Freeney, the only way this situation ends in a negative for Miami is if we miss on an impactful DE. If whoever ends up at DE this cycle becomes a monster under Kul, then it won't matter how good Chatfield does.
