Amari Cooper

Sick feeling watching him and bridgewater... Just puked after musberger mentioned miami thinking we were getting both of them. C'mon Al, reverse the "tide!"

Ummm we have Stephen Morris, Duke Johnson, and a plethora of capable WRs

Why are we salivating over any offensive players Bama might have?
I'm beyond jealous of their size, explosiveness, strength coach, and defense.

Our offense is going to be fvckin legit next year.

Count me as someone who didn't have him as highly ranked as I should have. I thought he was about the #5 or so player in the state. I only saw him run posts and 9s and look generally disinterested. Guess he went up there and decided to max out that athleticism everyone knew he had.

This is what I didn't understand, in his highlight tape he didn't just run posts in and 9 routes... He was running slants, corners, taking screens up for big gains and etc... His route running is what made him stand out...
i always thought the kid was the best wideout in the state...

Show it to me, I guess. I watched his highlight tape and don't remember seeing much variety, but more than that, I watched him play live quite a bit. He ran a ****LOAD of 9s, posts and screens. In one game against my [******] old school, he was virtually non-existent. And, that doesn't mean I didn't think he was the best wideout in the state. I had him ranked the #5 overall player in the state. I just didn't think he'd reach this level this quickly.

Also, for all the talk about his astounding route running they did on last night's telecast, his biggest gainers and most impressive routes have been Posts - where he pushes outside and uses that insane acceleration to blow by...as he did last night on one occasion (except the pass just went off his fingertips).

I was at that game and it really turned me off of Amari. I watched him from about 10 yards away for a half and he really seemed disinterested. Physically he obviously had it, but I didn't think the mental part was going to be there. He's obviously put it together, and great for him. Though him accelerating by the ND secondary may have had as much to do with that secondary being pathetically slow as it did with him being fast. One more thing, can we just agree to not talk about this kid every **** game he plays next year?? We sound like the pathetic ex that can't let go of the one that got away.....

You guys went to the wrong game, lol. I saw him play Columbus and singlehandedly destroy Columbus. They even threw him at Safety in the fourth after he built a huge lead for the west and he did more in fourth than our own Bush (not trying to knock our guy) did all game. He had a pick and a couple tackles. I remember leaving that guy like thats what I expected from Aldarius when I first went and saw him play. He wore the same number and looked the same size but had more speed and body movement. Aldarius ran like he had lead feet.

Saw him a number of times. Saw him in big games and disinterested games. Not sure what's the big deal of saying he was the #5 TOTAL player in the state and I just didn't expect him to reach this level as quickly.

well to be fair posts routes are some of the most important routes because it keeps the safety's honest... If he's able to get the safety to commit to him crossing the middle then that opens up a play for another player... Routes like posts, corners and slants kill zone defenses... And thats what he did yesterday... His ability to beat the jam and to make plays in the middle of field makes him dynamic... What other routes should he run besides, the posts, corners, 9 routes and slants? All of the those routes forces defenders to stay honest... You can't play too far off of him because you don't know what he'll run...

Yup. He's much better than I thought. Looks like a future all pro.

I also don't think it was a coincidence that Saban called his number so often yesterday.

He's doing everything that is needed of him right now. He's great for them. As a future presumed superstar, I'd like to see him expand the shorter stuff. For instance, I realize it's not his role, but I don't think I saw him run a dig. No one is denying he's exceeded expectations and that he will probably continue to do so.

Kid is insane, Bakas was right on this one. My fave recruit last year at WR and top 3. AG just got beat for this kid I think he tried. AC said he wanted to do something different and go to Bama instead of do what everyone wants him to do and go to UM his "childhood fave". Killed me when they said his team is the U in the BCS game. Musberger said kid wanted to win.

Yep. He was extremely high on him. Credit.

He deserves credit for this one, but if you throw enough **** at the wall it's bound to stick eventually.

A dig? Thats one of the most simple routes... He's running more complicated routes with the corner and deep posts... As I stated his slant route running is good too... Bama is a fundamental team and they are not just asking him to run a few routes... He's not just running fly patterns... His second td in the NC game shows that...

Didn't mention it because of its complexity. Mentioned it as an example that he's not being asked to show a lot of variety. To answer your question above about disinterested, in a couple of the games I saw him his senior year (i saw probably 4, 2 of which he balled), he honestly looked bored. Like, he wouldn't even come off the line at times. It was that type of hot and cold nature that just kinda threw me off.
