Alex Collins reports in with....

Some of you guys need to relax. We all know Collins is an intelligent and thoughtful kid, but do you think just happened by chance? Its a reflection of his upbringing and his mother. If you don't think Alex, and most importantly his mom, don't know that the coach is trying to steer him away from home you're crazy. You're also nuts if you think Alex will listen to his coach over his mom. You also know that our coaching staff know whats up and will have talked to his mom about it. The process will play itself out and in a few days he'll be a Cane. It makes to much sense for him to go anywhere else.

i agree here big time, we assume this kid is running around and doesn't know whats going on and its up t us to save him lol. AC has enough people around him that won't let anyone mess with him --> Golden + company, Alex's mom and his girlfriend.

And we have ZERO clue what his coach is doing has done etc, we have no idea what is said/happened behind closed doors.

best case we get alex, worst case he ends up in ARK and not FSU. that is the end of it.

Is it true that Collins doesn't live with his mom and was adopted (so to speak) by his coach and lives with him? Different message boards saying this. Would explain a lot if true.

Jimmy Puma asked the same question on twitter that I asked here ^^^

He got an answer...

"@MiramarSports: @DirtySouthCanes yes. that's true."

Interesting. I didn't know this.

Doesnt live with Mom, lives with Coach...maybe that explains a desire to get out of South Fl and go away to school? Coach has some sort of relationship with AK Coach and it starts to make some sense.

That being said, plenty of places to play other than Fayetteville AK with AC's reported skills. U of Arkansas not really highly regarded as an academic institution OR football program. I bet he could do better though I have no clue about his grades etc.

Meanwhile, he can live on the U's campus and enjoy college life, get a highly regarded degree, exposure and join the U family (Procanes) if it all goes well.

So would an in-home be between Gatewood, Collins, and Golden? Or would it be Mom, Gatewood, Collins, and Golden?

If we get all of our remaining targets I plan on getting banned from every FSU and ARKY site on the interwebs

My take on all this is that we can't be flipping out over every text that comes out. The reaction to the text about AC's coach taking Collins away so Golden can't do his in home was ridiculous. I thought the Photoshop stuff was hilarious but some of you need to get some perspective. I agree that his coach has been self-promoting and taking shine from AC during interviews but we can't have knee jerk reactions to everything that's posted/tweeted/facebooked etc... We don't know everything this guy has done for AC and why he is so loyal. We are going to have to let this play out and hope his mom, girlfriend, The U returning to glory and repping his city win out over his coach pushing ARK.

Posters need to rethink the argument that a particular college's academic rating relative to the other schools on a recruit's list is a significant factor in his decision. If it were truly the factor many on here make it out to be, then a lot more players would have Stanford, Northwestern, Duke, and Rice on their final lists, and the latter three schools would not be relegated to filling their roster with leftover recruiting scraps. It's comical to compare UM's relative academic rating to FSU's, UF's, or Arkansas for most kids who are simply trying to get a qualifying ACT/SAT score. The vast majority of these kids and their families are simply thrilled that they have an opportunity to get a college degree.

Let's face it, the kids are by and large going to choose the school where they feel the most comfortable, believe they have the greatest opportunity to excel, possibly when a national championshicp, and potentially make it to the pros. It is exceedingly rare that a kid is going to choose Miami over FSU because Miami is rated higher academically. Even Myron Rolle -- a kid brilliant enough to qualify as Rhodes Scholar -- laughably claimed that he chose FSU, in part, because of the academics. if the academics were really the driving force, he would have gone to Stanford, UVA, Cal Berkely, etc.......

Now, one potential caveat to this is class size, where UM has a distinct advantage. for a family that is concerned about their child struggling in college, the small class size may be a factor that makes a difference.

I thought I remember reading his coach is a Wisconsin alum, If so...

Collins interest might not be all perpetuated by Gatewood, we all know how much Bielema likes pounding the ball and they have ZERO depth at Arkansas right now. Bielemas probably telling him he can be the feature back since day one. Is it possible Gatewood wanted Collins at Wisconsin but Collins just really liked Bielema and what he's selling anywhere.

Only silver lining if we lose Collins is that it won't be to FSU. That would be painful.

6, Kirkland and Coley take on a greater importance because they are great players and we would be losing them to our arch rival. Losing Collins to ARK or Bostwick to UF stings a little less because of that.

I believe Gatewood played football at Drake, but that's testing my memory from the late '80s.

It is well documented that his coach is a Wisconsin alum, and that he was actively steering kids to Biemalot.

If you don't believe me, see this pic taken by Pulitzer Prize nominated sportswriter Charles Robinson, which Robinson swears is a pic of Coach texting the Wisconsin coach with an update on his efforts to persuade his star players to trip to Madison, in exchange for the position of nutritionist for the University of Wisconsin's football program.

Legit, no ****...
