Seems like his coach is pulling for us a little?

As for Collins, considered the nation's No. 1 running back according to 247Sports.com, South Plantation High coach Doug Gatewood told me this afternoon the former UM commitment is really undecided with what he'll do. Miami, Florida State, Wisconsin, Florida and Arkansas are all in the picture.

Texas, Gatewood told me, is trying to make push to get Collins' last official visit next weekend. He's currently scheduled to visit Arkansas.

"I asked Alex today to try and give me some sort of idea of what he's really looking for to separate the school and he really couldn't. He has no idea," Gatewood said.

"As far as he's concerned the education, the campus, weight rooms, facilities, all that stuff is pretty equal in his eyes. You talk about playing time, Miami has Duke Johnson. Florida State has the kid from Central [Devonta Freeman]. Wisconsin has James White coming back. Arkansas has kids. Florida has quite a few coming back. He's been to Miami about five or six times on unofficial visits. Hopefully this weekend helps clear some things up for him."

Does this kid understand Duke Johnson does not have the size to be an every down, pound the rock type back? Even with Duke, this could would be getting some substantial carries as a Frosh here.

FSU board seems resigned to him picking UM.....that's saying alot because they are pretty sure they are getting EVERYONE.

He'll understand that for sure after this weekend.

I didn't see anything that would have me believe he's pulling for us. Seemed pretty neutral. And who knows what he's doing behind closed doors.

Fsu has Freeman? What about the 3 other guys who get touches or would be ahead of him?

The offense would get such a major boost next with additions like Collins, Coley, and Sandland with a full healthy season from Seantrelle and one more offseason of UTOUGH for the OL. Dont think people really get the full picture here in what this could do for our offense next year and '14 if we finish strong with this class, and it starts with landing Collins

i agree, however the "Hopefully this weekend helps clear some things up for him"....
the kid has been here 5-6 times and the coach is saying that hopefully his official can clear whatevers unanwered up for him.... but yeah, i'm probably just reading into it too much

FSU people probably rationalize by thinking if they don't expect Collins then thinking they get everyone else is realistic.

Every logical point made would make sense him going to UM.....it's almost like there has to be a reason why he isn't on board yet, it just doesn't make sense

seems like you're reading into his decision look around too much too. I think the kid is smart and wants to know his options before making a choice.

I'm sure the coaching staff is re-enforcing this point.

That is what worries me though. How could he NOT know this already? He must? So the fact that the coach is making those statements, means either Collins himself, or the coach, are making excuses to imply that the situation at UM is no better than at FSU, UF or Arkansas.

Thread full of first-rodeo recruitniks is full.

Grace has not made a decision either. Bostwick. Bryant. UM clearly has the best chance at PT for any DT.

The "looking for a reason not to go to UM" logic may have applied to Williams. It does not to Collins.

Collins look at what Mike James did last ' year.....and If collins gets just as many carries as mike james id like to think that Collins would have more yardage with a higher ypc

Something that doesn't seem to be mentioned enough is that Collins seems to be a very sharp kid and will most likely pickup the offense quickly which is huge when we would need his immediate impact.

I've mentioned it on here before and people didn't want to hear it. I've been told that it is in his best interests to leave south Florida. My guess is he really wants to go to Miami but might feel it is best for him to go away for school. I think golden will convince him to stay this weekend
