He officially got us through maybe the toughest time here at miami. We are better off now then when he arrived. He backed out of his dream job to stay which is very important for he future of um as this recruiting class is legit! Ok now if he doesn't profess fast over next two seasons butch will still be around and ours.

Thanks, Al for losing to Duke
Thanks, Al for getting blown out 4 times in one season
Thanks, Al for talking about the "handcuffs" being off, and then completely collapsing midseason
Thanks, Al for being completely unprepared for your first bowl game

He didn't backout. Penn State isn't run by fools. They told him No D wasn't welcome and he decided to stay. Anyone with access to a computer wouldn't touch coach D. Guys defenses are horrible.

He's not a candidate because coach D is not a candidate. They are a package deal

This situation could have been handled better from a PR standpoint by Al. Nonetheless, he had every right to meet with his alma matter to discuss his dream job. Further, he has earned some leeway after sticking with the U when few people would have after being misled by our then Athletic Director and members of the Administration who were, to put it kindly, less than forthcoming with him when he was interviewed and became our coach. Accept the fact that he remains the Coach of our beloved U. As such, he and the players deserve our support.

A lot of fans here must've only started following UM after 2001.

Al does seem to be loyal and solid to the canes if he passed on his "dream school job"

As bad as we have looked under Golden, I still think he is the right guy to lead the program at this point in time. If we don't turn the corner in the next 2 years then he needs to get the boot. Right now this program needs coaching continuity and an infusion of talent.

I don't think it's fair to lump him into the Coker/Shannon incompetence category. He inherited an absolute mess of a situation. Everyone with a pulse knew Coker and Shannon were over their heads and needed to go after year 1-2 of each of their tenures. I don't sense that with Golden. He has made his share of knucklehead moves and needs to cut ties with his buddy NoD, but I still think he has the makings of an excellent college coach.

Al stands with the U! Until Penn State calls. Then he's taking the job. Now they don't want him! Al is back standing with the U just forget I took another job.
