Al is not the problem, it's Dona Shalala.

I'll have stated before and I'll go on record again by saying we will not win another National Championship as long as she is the President mark it down!

Please stop with the nonsense. Donna is probably the most sports/football friendly president in Miami history.

And the results are terrible.

What does that tell you? Micromanaging maybe? Her political correctness & attempt to "clean up the image" has fvcked us in more ways than one (ironically enough the biggest scandal in UM history happened under her watch).

She didnt want to renovate the OB which caused us our home field advantage. I bellive our school has the money to pay top coaches but she chooses not to. Im telling you guys it starts with her providing the resources.

stopped reading after the end of the bold. You lost all credibility when you spelled her name wrong and further obliterated your chances when you posted that gem.
thats your choice to stop reading and yes im not perfect so i didnt spell her name right.... but doesnt change the fact she's ruining our football program.

Correct. Progressive liberalism is a disease that is ruining our beloved Miami Hurricanes as well as America and the game of football in general. They'll have us playing flag football before you know it.

The librulz did it! I knew it!

I would't count Nevingate as the worst thing in UM history. The crap that went on in the 80s/early 90s was far worse, IMO. When you've got players on record in "The U" documentary basically admitting to theft and rampant drug usage (roids as well as pot/coke/whatever else), not to mention the other crap we know went down (good ol' Uncle Luke paying players, phone/credit card fraud, Pell Grant fraud, the direct involvement of assistant coaches and athletic staff, etc)...that kinda makes getting a few meals at Beni Hana and a party on a boat look like child's play.

But hey, don't let reality stop you from making silly claims and blaming Shalala for the past 10 years of mediocrity in football.

See, I really want to fall in with the, "it's Shalala's fault", line of thinking. Mainly because she's hired the last 2 guys, and while she wasn't fully in her office when Coker took over, She did OK his extension. Then someone brings up her politics and I realize how silly it is. Why can't it just be she's bad at her job when it comes to the athletics side? If Shalala were the farthest right-wing person imaginable would we be a top 10 team? Do College Presidents who lean to the right have a monopoly of power on the current college football landscape? Don't you think that maybe...just maybe...that if it is Donna's fault, it's for something other than where her views fit on the political spectrum?

Does anybody question it's about image over wins with her? I mean, we haven't showed emotion in **** near a decade. Our players sound like ******* Boy Scouts. She just hired an AD that said 1 of his biggest selling points with coach L is that he doesn't curse. I love coach L, just saying. We're either going to win like Stanford does, or were not winning at all. And guess what? We're not winning **** like that down here. This is south florida. The richest area for talent in the country. The belly of the beast. LET THEM EAT! You think when that dwarf meets with recruits she talks about kicking *** and winning football games? She needs to keep her *** away from the team.

I'm curious if people who hold Donna responsible also think that other university presidents are equally responsible for the success or failure of that school's football team. Is the prez of UF, for example, on the hook for the failures of Muschamp? Are the past 3 decades worth of presidents at Notre Dame responsible for their mediocrity? Is Michigan's female president responsible for the failure of Rich Rod and the relative mediocrity of Brady Hoke...two of the hottest names in coaching at the time they were hired in Ann Arbor? Is the guy who was president of Baylor back in 2007/2008, when Art Briles was hired to coach the Bears, responsible for their recent success on the field, even though that president was only there for 2 years and was abruptly fired by their Board of Regents?

Why would Shalala put money into the Orange Bowl when it was owned by the city of Miami? if your lucky, maybe your next door neighbor will pay you mortgage payments for you.

Perfect example of the gene pool receding

"Nobody alive today is a Neanderthal, but many prehistoric genetic traits are still in our gene pool, so prehistoric qualities can appear at random in the human population."

Her mandate along with the move to the ACC has made the football program a shell of itself. Things are the way they are bc that's what they want: good grades, no problems, no money spent.
Yeah staying in the big east would have been the right call....

:mmkay:

UM leaving the Big East started the decline of said conference. Don't get it twisted. Donna is all about the U when it comes to the academics but it's no coincidence that since she came in, the ship started to sink in all of our top sports (football, baseball, etc.). It doesn't take a genius to figure it out. The evidence speaks for itself.

Quit being a nut huger and see the truth for what it is, man. The treasure troll has been a HUGE REASON for the downfall of our once beloved U.
Ok right, the ACC was a horrible sports based decision. Let alone more money for athletics. And right what has transpired across the college conference landscape would never have happened if miami just would have stayed. Good job ostrich.

Leonard Hamilton left on Tad Foote's watch. Rick Pitino was all but coming to Miami. He wanted out of the Celtic job, but it was Freeman who leaked it. It was Hamilton who recommended his friend Perry Clark. Based on where Miami basketball was at the time, the Frank Haith hire made a lot of sense. The Larranaga hire was a very good one. This year will be bumpy because Jim had to replace all 5 starters. Next year they should be back in the tournament once Rodriguez and the kid from Texas are eligibile.

You're not going to fire Jim Morris. He's earned the right to leave on his own terms. Miami is at an extreme disadvantage in baseball due to the restrictions in scholarships as a private institution. Unless you set up an athletic endowment like at Stanford you're at an extreme disadvantage to be competitive and consistent. I'd say Jim retires in the next year or two. They've upgraded the stadium.

Football has been a disaster. Players, former players, Board of Trustees all wanted Larry. The mistake was hiring Randy and in Randy's defense he was set up for failure. Who elevates the coordinator who was part of a failed staff? It's not like Randy was the Head Coach in waiting. The Golden hire was a good hire at the time. After two failed coaches, the options were somewhat limited.

What Miami has really lacked until Blake James is consistency at Athletic Director. Look Paul Dee was General Counsel before he took over the Athletic Department. He navigated the university through the Pell Grant scandal. He did a lot of good for the university athletic department but some of his hiring decisions were questionable. Miami made a good hire in Kirby Hocutt but he split as soon as he had an opportunity to get back to Texas. That Howdy Doody looking guy was not so good. Blake James was a home run. He has time with the university and he was an AD at the University of Maine and he likes Miami. So he is here for the long haul.

It's not all Donna's fault, since she's the Prez most would hold her responsible for the failures of the football team. I believe it goes further up the chain of command. As said before, The U has a nicer, not so brash football team which if it wins 7+ games a year and goes to a bowl( to calm the fans), collects the ACC tv money and moves on. I agree this is an institution of higher learning and it's doing a very good job of it, so until the powers to be decide otherwise, this is it.
