He did not get the job because he has white, he got the job because he was a professional conman!
 
Golden doesn't come close to our new head coach, but I believe he's a good man in the wrong spot. A good MAC coach at best.

It would be nice to see Our fans show some of the class of UGA fans, but his drawbacks as a coach blind too many to his qualities as a man.

Not true^^. Numerous off field situation and indiscretions were cited in this thread, none having any thing to do with his inept coaching on field.

There has never been a more successful professional conman than one who is white. White receives benefit of doubt and disarms initial skepticism for every race on Earth. It definitely helped his con and still does.
 
Al Golden was an enemy of the program, and was ultimately a byproduct of NCAA investigations.

He was indirectly the biggest sanction we had from the entire ordeal.

he was a 5 year/20 million dollar post season ban and fine.

6- Al Golden was "green" he needed much more experience under a proven coach.
7- He completely misunderstood the Miami fan and alumni base.
Finally, do I think Al Golden is a nice person ? Yes, I do. Do I think there
was entirely to much "hatred" against him as a person. Yes, I do.
He failed here, but he tried. And for that I wish him the best.

Good post OP IMO. There are some posters here who lack grace and hurl personal insults at a man who lost too many football games.

After hearing details on how he treated players, played favorites and shunned others I think the hatred against him is completely justified.

I am so thankful he is gone. The phone calls, donating to the banners, all of it was all worth it. Can't wait until that loser, pathetic excuse of a DC we have is fired also. Good riddance.

I heard this from a UM employee as well. He treated UM employees like s.hit and most of the players hated him and had no respect for him as a person
 
The OP and those who agree with him have way too much personal value wrapped up in being nice, classy, good fans - (whatever you want to call it) for their own good. Here are a few reasons why I disagree:

He is incredibly egotistic & stubborn. He thinks he knows more about football than people who really f'in know football. Remember the story about the former players who were brought in to watch film and have their questions (concerns!) addressed? The meeting became a heated exchange. Nothing good came of it and absolutely NOTHING changed. Al plowed ahead with his losing scheme. We should have known right then we were dealing with a borderline personality disorder because by that time many supporters were alarmed wih what he was trying to run.

The rate of attrition on his teams at UM was truly shocking. This could have been because of one of two things. Either he was a terrible character evaluator or these players got in, saw what was happening, and scooted on out. Whichever it was, it really hurt the program. He essentially placed sanctions on us each year. We were not playing with depth. And we still aren't.

Lastly, (I could go in all day but I'll end it here) he is a THIEF. He basically kicked us while we were down by getting that contract extension. It was all about him at that point. He was misled (which I call bullsh1t on) and somehow big bad mean Miami led the saint Al Golen astray and blindsided him with Nevin Shapiro. So what did he and his agent do? They FVCKed us royally. For lots of dough.

I have zero sympathy, empathy,for gratitude for that man and neither should any of you. I'm public about this everywhere on social media and I've maintained that while he may be a very nice man - he is not a very good coach. You can be honest - and should be - lest another program be snookered by him. I really do believe the car salesman crap now when I used to think it was over the top. It isn't. He is!

sad tho that he will be mentioned for top hc jobs and Randy is coaching LB's. they did the same at miami coaching record but Randy had a very strong DC resume just not ready to be an HC
 
**** Al Folden. Piece of **** ruined careers and cost many people millions. He's a con artist and nothing more. Depressing knowing he got paid millions to be the worst coach in the history of the sport.

He would post a 4-3 depth chart and run a 3-4.

He posted that to appease fans, but it was lying. He was being deceitful on purpose.
 
Plenty of people in this thread that fell hook, line, and sinker for the nice shiny used car salesman schtick, and still believe it. Quite stunning really. The guy is a phony narcissist and some ought to take a good long look in the mirror and question their ability to determine an individual's character, because this guy was a walking gimmick.
