Maybe if Mario had taken the job with NCAA sanctions. Maybe if Mario had 20 scholarships taken away. Maybe if Mario wasn’t being paid double what Golden was.

But no, if Mario doesn’t win 8 games next year he should be fired and it would be a failure.
 
Kaaya started as a true freshman and Golden didn’t make it through the end of his sophomore year. So “another 2-3 years” isn’t even a question if he doesn’t produce.

At a MINIMUM Mario should make the playoffs once next two seasons. I don’t know how you justify keeping him if UM isn’t top 12 once before 2027.

he needs to win the ACC next year. no excuses.

agreed. you dont need 5 years to judge a coach. I think 3 is more than enough. he did what everyone of our coaches did in year 3 (Manny did his in year 2 and same with richt), which is peak. the thing that coaches couldn't do after that was follow up with a strong season. he has to win 10+ next year thats it.

Him (and Guidry) blowing the final 3 games this year cost him any wiggle room he would’ve had. I think if UM made playoffs this year the fanbase would’ve been fine with regression. The ending has left a sour taste, no “rebuilding year” talk when you haven’t won yet.

dont disagree in terms of right now and what the schedule looks like, but ill give mario that chance to prove it on the field. i do ***** about him a lot but ill give him a fair chance to do the follow up because i gave randy, al, richt, and manny that.

Still time to build the roster out for 2025, but sooner or later the buck needs to stop with Mario like it did for all others before him.

Agreed whether it’s Mateer, Mendoza, Emory, Nickle or Judd there’s zero reason for this team to take a step back next year and win less than 10 games.

After all, that’s why we had to do all that losing his first two years because we were “building it the right way” and making it “sustainable” right?? Well year 4 is time to “sustain” it and build upon it.

my biggest issue with the mario hire wasnt the hire itself but the contract. i dont care that we paid him 8 a year, but you could have done 8 a year for 5 years and not 10. there is no out for a program thats constantly involved in lawsuits with former coaches regarding buyouts
