Didn't Bridgewater start at UL as a True Freshman?

I'm not going to say that Kaaya CAN'T do it, because he's showed so far that he can.

I just think it would be wise to RS him and give him a year to mature, and let Heaps/Williams lead the team this year.

But hey, what do I know?

You don't RS him because you have Lawson and Allison coming in...

Lol, i've never heard of a team not RS a kid because of that. Makes no sense at all.

He won't redshirt because we need a backup. Williams is a unknown at this point. Either way if you redshirt him or not he can go pro 2 seasons after this one, either as a RS soph or as a jr. And if you don't RS him he can get his eligibility out of the way a year sooner, clearing way for the QBs down the line if he decides to stay for every year he can. Redshirting him doesn't make any sense imo.

I agree, for the record I don't see him redshirting but I laugh at the original quotes guys reasoning on why he shouldn't RS.

You raise an interesting point. I wonder if once the QB competition is cut to 2 on Wednesday if it's a guarantee that those two guys will be enter the season as the starter and the backup. One would assume so but we've obviously not heard a redshirt being ruled out either.

With all this talk about Olsen transferring is anyone else concerned about qb depth next year? Suppose Kaaya goes down and Heaps and Williams are gone. Then we have Rosier and a true freshman. I, for one, hope Olsen sticks it out.

Some of you guys are missing arguably THE most important comments on those 2 interviews: Duke Johnson CATCHING the football,

Do some of you realize that Duke caught 4 balls all of last season???. In fact, he caught ONE ball in the last 4 games he played in.

In his freshman season, Duke had 27 catches. No matter who the QB is, Duke needs to be used as a weapon in the passing game and that alone, will be a HUGE asset for a 1st year QB. That can be the difference between a QB winning a game and throwing dumb passes downfield. Duke is a mismatch waiting to happen.

Williams eligible for a medical redshirt if they end up avoiding using him this year?

You would think so but its anyone's guess. What i do know is that the staff or anybody else doesnt seem to trust Olsen. And its not just Olsens shortcomings that are causing his downfall, part of it is Kaayas accent. Every day Kaaya balls out it becomes more clear that Olsen will always be number 2 here at best. I dunno what to make of Williams and where he fits. Is he that much better then Heaps if hes healthy? If your going to make a QB change because you dont like Heaps one would think the staff would go with Kaaya over Williams. The whole thing is kind of a cluster**** lol

I actually asked Coach Golden about Duke catching only 4 passes at a dinner in Orlando in May and he agreed with me and said that getting him the ball in space would be a priority this year. I got real tired seeing other teams kill us with the RB's catching wheel routes on us.

It's sad that it wasn't a priority from the start. You have one of THE most explosive players in the nation and you don't create ways to get him in space? Especially when you have questionable ability in Morris?!??? Smh.

Two years before Allison is even here. You don't make decisions based on future outcomes that are unknown. You play the best player, can't redshirt in hopes for future

I'm sure Duke was open, I just think Morris had his eyes downfield most of the time.

This is a 2 horse race imo. Olsen wont play a snap here and who knows what is going to happen with Williams. I think this is between Heaps and Kaaya and we dont see any other QBs play this year. If heaps is the starter and plays bad the first few games i think the staff would go to Kaaya before they went to Williams.

Im also confused as to Rosiers role on this team. He doesnt seem to be a serious threat because of Kaayas apparent emergence and with the other QBs coming in im confused why they seem content leaving him at QB

I feel like they want a legit athlete at QB that could run some wildcat, but also throw the ball. From the clips I saw of Rosier he has a strong arm but long *** delivery.

Plus, we have gone about 7 years with one and only one real QB choice at a time, sometimes actually only one QB. We need depth there. It is a major blow that Olsen is not lighting it up this camp. I wonder about Rosier too, but kid have some talent and can make plays with his feet. Heck, they can give Chocolate snaps if they want(probably better for him to learn RB). I am tire of two things, empty DT position and no replacement for QB playing poorly. Our two Heisman winners sat on bench behind NC qbs. That is DEPTH!

Duke and Yearby in space with a linebacker is a crazy thought!!!

Actually, you always redshirt with hopes for the future. The whole thing about redshirting is buying time. Time to develop more. Redshirting is always about the future. Now, if Kaaya can start right now, and win right now, you have to forget redshirting him. At that point the future is now. I'd love to be able to redshirt the guy then have him start 4 years. Doubt that happens, though. I have absolutely no issues with him not redshirting, as long as he starts. If he's playing garbage time and wasting a redshirt, that's kind of silly. Unless you feel he's leaving after his junior year anyway, you don't burn a year of your QBs eligibility with mop up duty against ArkSt. Now, I could see him getting some reps in real game time this year, which would totally make sense. Let him get his feet wet in ACC play, even if it's a series or two per game. That'll help his development a lot better than garbage time against garbage teams.

If Kayaa redshirts, in '15, MIAMI will once again have no QBs on the roster with playing experience.

Even putting aside all of Olsen's hiccups over the last two years, the fact that he is suspended for the first game -- against a very good team -- **** near removes him from the competition. Perhaps you can get away with having your first string QB suspended against the directional FCS schools, but not against a legit opponent.

The suspension obliterates his leadership -- a critical factor for a QB -- because it is for purely selfish reasons. in short, if Kaaya or Heaps are solid to good then Olsen is effectively out of it.
