At any point this fall will there be a post missing Snickers?

Outside of a few nice deep passes i cant recall him being a strong performer

Williams struggles & we throw young boys & build

But if Olsen or Kaaya suck then ill be worried

In theory you would think so...

But here's the concern I have. For as bad as Morris was, Williams never took the job from him. So either 1 of 2 things are going on here.

1) Williams just isn't very good
2) The coaching staff are idiots and were too cowardly or stupid to pull the trigger on the depth chart move.

Either way, doesn't look promising.

(2) I think Al needs to learn a lesson with senior loyalty. Williams is every bit the QB that Morris is. As a true freshman at Memphis he had over 2000 yards passing. Don't forget that Coley had to dumb down the offense for Morris. Open competition will make the QB position better and the winning is the starter, whoever it is!

Excuse me?

I'm not going to make excuses for Morris' lackluster performance this year, but particularly in regard to raw ability, this is just wrong.

I'll take 2), Snickers simply can't play the position as well as the average walk-on. The personification of calm incompetence.

I could be wrong, but it's going to take quite a bit of growth for him to play again at any level. We'll see.

Seeing that our senior coaching staff have proven themselves to be idiots through a three year track record, there's no need to go further.

Or 3rd, he wasn't ready to be the starter yet.

Pretty sure Dopeyeyes just benefited from a desire for continuity. I personally would have benched him for the remainder of his college career after he ran out of bounds-in a clear act of self preservation-instead of diving for a crucial first down late against Dook. I wouldn't argue for a second that Williams has more raw ability or anywhere near the arm but I'll take the cliche "game manager that plays within his own abilities" for next season in a second. That'll be the perfect bridge to Kaaya.

Let's say it was #2....it's still a horrible situation cause Williams will be constrained by a poor scheme and poor overall gameday management from a subpar coaching staff.

Either way, the present situation just sucks. For as bad as Morris was I'd argue Coley's system, playcalling, and route combinations were just as bad.

This. There were too many moving parts last year between a brand new OC and top playmakers getting injured to be able to insert a new QB as well. We needed the continuity, and quite frankly the potential for the big play from downfield from Morris.

Man we're going to miss Morris next year... When has it ever been "addition by subtraction"? That doesn't exist... You either reload or regress... It's not addition by subtraction if your back up has been riding the bench for 3 seasons... That's an indication that he couldn't beat out his predecessors...

Considering how bad Morris was....that would fall under #1. We're not talking about a kid straight out of high school here, Williams is going into his Senior year plus already has experience as a starter.

Morris was plenty "talented", but consistency was sorely lacking (*3rd down*).

Either way, no sense in having him out there nursing that ankle/achilles for so many games... 8 INTs in 4 games after re-injured @USF

So I'm hoping somewhere between 2 & 3...

We have a small sample size with Williams, as I believe he had the most burn in the USF game. And he played really well, including a touchdown strike to Coley.

I scratch my head over why Williams didn't play more.

Between Williams being worse than Morris when Morris was having a bad game vs. Golden stubbornly sticking with Morris no matter what, I'll say it was the latter.

I have never rooted against a hurricane until now. If you were at the bowl game and in the lower bowl and on the miami side you will probably root against him too. He was a cancer. Chirping at the crowd instead of having your head in the game is Inexcusable. That behavior disgraced the university, his team and will prevent him from being drafted. There is no downside in losing that cancer. Good riddance.

Losing the deep ball isn't a good thing. Considering our main threat will be our RB, expect the box to get stacked and the safeties to creep up.
