ACC Tournament

Real talk. Does anyone see any upsets? I think of all the top seeds, we have the most favorable draw. from the #5 seed on down, there are a few teams I don't want to see, namely Wake (they beat us and know how to), NC State is always a pain, and Maryland.

We are sitting pretty playing the winner of BC/GT. I feel very confident about that. Duke might be in a bit of a dogfight on a neutral court playing either Maryland or Wake winner. Can someone tell me that I am crazy to think this?

In the first round, I wouldn't be shocked if Wake beat MD. FSU might give UNC fits too if they beat Clemson.

Duke has the hardest quarterfinal test of all the tops seeds. I wouldn't want to face either Wake or Maryland. Both of them can knock of Duke on a neutral court. Heck, Greensboro is basically in Wake's backyard.

I was thinking about this earlier, but maybe I am just splitting hairs.

Currently, Miami is a #2 seed in the WEST bracket, playing #15 Vermont in the opening round and likely playing either Memphis/Oklahoma in the 2nd Round. This not only has us playing Gonzaga for an Elite 8 math-up, more importantly, we have to travel all the way to Los Angeles.

Me personally, I would rather drop to a #3 or even #4 seed and play in the East of South bracket, vs. playing all the way out in the West. What do you all think?

what happens if Miami wins acc w/out playing duke?

we stay a 2 seed

This, barring 3-4 other teams collapsing.

what happens if Miami wins acc w/out playing duke?

1 seed. Means duke lost to someone again and we would get the number 1 imo.

Not this.

I think people are over-reacting. Yes, we have lost 3 games over the course of 3 weeks, but two of those were on the road. In addition, most other teams outside of Gonzaga are losing games as well. We are not alone.

We are still a #2 seed. People are acting like that GT loss puts us at a #5 seed or something crazy like that.

Right now, we are a #2 along with G-Town, Ohio State*, and Kansas. Except for G-Town, Kansas and Ohio State* have been playing shakey hoops lately. We are not far away from being a #1, counting a solid championship run in the ACC tourney.

So you agree with everything I said?

I truly think if we win the ACC, without going through Duke, we still earn a #1 seed. My only caveat is who and how Duke loses. If they lose a close one in the semis, then maybe not. If they lose opening round to Maryland or Wake, they are toast.

Logically it makes sense...remember everyone ranked ahead of us can't WIN OUT, many will have to lose a game and this has nothing to do with the ACC. OSU, Michigan and IU can't all win the Big 10 Tourney.

I would have a difficult time believing that the winner of that us winning the ACC Tourney plus the 3-4 teams that would also lose an additional game would be ranked higher then us.

IMO this is correct (even though bracketology is not official).

Remember everyone ranked ahead of us CANT win out. If we win the ACC, I have trouble believing that we're not a #1 seed.

Agreed but I also think that it is POSSIBLE that if we win and beat Duke in the finals, there is a SMALL chance we both are #1 seeds. Let's not forget how many #5 RPI/SOS teams are out there.

I'm fortunate to have this day off on my birthday.

Sitting at home relaxing and about to watch one of our foes.....either GT or BC.

I'm rooting for GT. I want revenge. Plus it will reflect better with the selection committee for a beatdown revenge loss.

GT was killing them early on, like 14-0.

It's 22-13 now.

GT should roll unless they just start to fall apart.

I would rather play BC tomorrow. They are just incredibly under athletic.

Yeah, I can see that. I mean, at this point, not trying to overlook anyone, but the only team I am truly worried about is NC State. They can just get streaky and cause us fits athletically.

Virginia is tough, but if we shut down Harris. They have no weapons outside of him. THey are like a better version of VaTech, once we shut-down Greene.

Are you worried about GT?
