We play the winner of GT-BC in the Quarterfinals. UNC is also on the other side of the bracket, if the bracket they showed during the GT-BC game was accurate. VT/UVA and NC State are also on our side.

NCSU just lost to FSU, and UVA might be able to jump them for the #4 seed if they take care of Maryland. Hoos have the head to head tiebreaker. IMO that's huge, because I want NCS to be as tired as possible if we see them in the Semis.

I'd love to see that. NC State is dangerous -- more so than UVA, I think. Having them play an extra game would be huge.

We would play the winner of the 8 vs. 9 game on Friday at noon, I believe.

Yes, we play the BC/GT winner at noon.

Even though I would prefer to play GT because of revenge, we should blow out either team because of the long rest. Also, each team is really inferior.

The team is probably better off winning the first game and losing the 2nd game. Not sure that 3 tough games in 3 days will benefit us going into the NCAA's. I'm not rooting for that to happen though.

Although I see the logic in what you're saying, I still think there's an outside shot of landing a #1 seed if we make a strong showing and beat Duke in the ACCTCG. There are going to be a bunch of highly ranked teams that lose in their conference tournaments, just look at the Top 10 this past week for evidence.

And beyond all that... it's tournament time. The mindset changes, the effort changes, everything goes up tenfold in intensity. Now is when you start playing every game like it's the last, because for some of our opponents, it IS the last game of the season. I'd rather go into the Big Dance knowing we're at full throttle, than having held something back in the ACCT and not knowing what team will show up.

I disagree, the best thing that could happen if we get in in sync and start playing like the team we were in Jan-Feb, losing the second game would probably do terrible things for us mentally. Winning the tourney would be huge for this team, plus we would get 4 days off before we play some 15/16th seed.

The best thing that can happen is if we win and we're healthy.

We're better off blowing out the first game by 30 and resting guys. We're better off blowing out the second game by 30 and resting guys. We're better off winning the finals in a half way decent game so that we still see a challenge but can potentially get to the top line as a 1 seed.

I think a #1 seed is out of the question at this point. Every team in front of us would have to go out of their tourneys in the first game and Miami would have to dominate the ACC tourney. Miami also has the burden of not being a traditional basketball power and never having done anything significant on the court. We won't get the benefit of the doubt like a Kansas or Gtown would. It's the same reason we were undefeated in the ACC going into the Duke game and weren't even ranked. The respect level just isn't there. That said, stranger things have happened.

The way Duke has looked with Kelly, the committee would lend a lot of credence to us beating them in the final in their backyard. At the very least, we knock Duke out of the #1 line when we beat them 2/3 times and won both the regular season standings and post-season tournament. The door is definitely open.

I agree. I also think if we beat duke in the finals there is a decent chance duke is still a 1 seed as well.

I don't, not if we win the ACCT. That would take a #1 seed from Duke, and depending on what happened in other tournaments, it's possible. Not probable, but possible.

If we win the ACC tourney they must put Miami in a #1 seed. Come on win the ACC reg season and tourney championship.
SOS is top 5, RpI top 10.

Real talk. Does anyone see any upsets? I think of all the top seeds, we have the most favorable draw. from the #5 seed on down, there are a few teams I don't want to see, namely Wake (they beat us and know how to), NC State is always a pain, and Maryland.

We are sitting pretty playing the winner of BC/GT. I feel very confident about that. Duke might be in a bit of a dogfight on a neutral court playing either Maryland or Wake winner. Can someone tell me that I am crazy to think this?

In the first round, I wouldn't be shocked if Wake beat MD. FSU might give UNC fits too if they beat Clemson.
