ACC revenue Sharing

Go back to selling popcorn at Sunlifeless, you halfwit troll.

Don't blame me that Beckham screwed you over trying to use his soccer fans that were being gullible. I tried to warn you but you just weren't smart enough. Maybe Beckham will give you a autographed pair of his underwear for your collection for all your support helping him get a stadium at UM expense. Still laughing that you really thought a guy like Beckham that has never been to one Canes game in his life would drop $250M building UM a stadium.

We need all the revenue we can get, since we lack the best weapon one can have in the current college football arms race: a stadium of our own.

A stadium is not the best weapon, a stadium does not win football games.

I'd re-shape your quote to say "[w]e need all the revenue we can get, since we lack the best weapon one can have in the current college football arms race: a great coaching staff."

A stadium doesn't "win" games but certainly impacts games. You undervalue the impact of home field advantage. No team fears playing at SLS regardless of the product of the field.

I don't undervalue anything. If stadiums were import to winning as some claim, then programs such as Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State, etc... would be virtually unbeatable. A great example is LSU and scary old "death valley". Tell me how good LSU was prior to Saban and Miles?

Furthermore, if a team is afraid of ANY stadium, then there are much deeper issues with said team and its coaching staff.

We're talking financials here bub. Revenue. You realize that, by not having our own stadium, we only keep a % of the revenue generated every home game.

We lease SLS for between $4M to $5M which is far less than the cost of owning a stadium. It would cost far more than that each year repaying a bank loan for 30 years. Then there is maintenance, upgrades, security, insurances and other stuff we get for free now at SLS. Also, we would have to deed the property over to the Country or we get stuck paying millions of dollars in property tax. Stop lying to people trying to pretend we would make more money with the total cost of building and owning a stadium over the great lease deal that is even lower than what we paid at the Orange Bowl.

You have no idea what you're talking about in these threads. None. You've even posted articles and then promptly misquoted them. You don't post in a single non-stadium related thread. You do, however, seem to be fixated on David Beckham as an underwear model.

I don't even consider you a Canes fan just one of Beckham kick ball fans that I don't even consider a man's sport. I don't want the Canes football team being the laughing stock of the nation playing in a soccer stadium we have to lease. I have posted on other non-stadium threads but it is a waste of time since most of this board is full of people hating & trashing the Canes program, hating on everything from the coaches, stadium, presidents, AD, game schedule, recruiting and even some of the players. It is a waste of time trying to talk to people that just hate UM in every way they can think of. I hate soccer it is a girls game. I will post on threads where I like to post. Too bad if it stops you from making up BS trying to demand a stadium.

If you want a stadium then stop whining about other people should pay for the stadium and start raising the money yourself.

You were the one that was dumb enough to think your hero Beckham was going to spend his money on building the Canes a stadium. I am surprised if you can even walk on just two legs.

Miami is getting a $400M upgrade to SLS but you can always go watch Beckham kick ball team instead of supporting Canes football.

Aside from the actual land it sits on(meaning if it were in Pierre North Dakota), is SLS even worth $400M?

I like the positive affect having our own stadium recruiting and revenue wise. All the SEC knows the public allure for Miami in general, with the networks and recruits. The city should only consider support for a stadium with the Canes being the primary tenant and the kick ball star team allowed to lease during spring and summer months. I just can't get the image out of my mind, a stadium over looking the azul waters of Biscayne Bay. The positive affect on local, state and national recruits would be huge!

Winning on the field fixes a lot of ills. Look no further than Bama. They get the pick of the litter being at the top.

Anyone who thinks that our ACC or UM revenue is competitive with the SEC or teams that challenge for the NC isn't very good with numbers.

The SEC contract is about to skyrocket with the start of the SEC Network. We're a contract behind them, 5 years or so. Yay, we're even with them for 12 minutes while our brand new contract starts, and they are in the last year of a deal that is going to look like pennies soon. SMH.

And even without conference revenue comparisons, which hurts us, just take a look at the difference between what schools like UF and Bama generate with donations, and net on game day compared to us... we aren't competitive there. Millions and millions of dollars in disparity. At schools like that you have to give thousands just to have a CHANCE of POSSIBLY buying good season tickets. That's before you even pay for your seats. We can't give our tickets away.

We are what we are. A small, private school that has done some amazing things in athletics. But its a lot harder for us.

I would say the ONLY reason we aren't like the SEC schools as far as making money and having that kind of facilities is because we are a small private school. Historically we have just as much athletic success (prob more), not to mention the fact we are top 50 in the Nation academically. Plus, We are in Miami!.
The only way the University of Miami could be a better school overall is if it had like 30K students.

As mentioned Miami is a small private very young university, they're also one of the few successful schools in a major city.
To try to compare Miami to an SEC school is disingenuous.
IMO the only comparable schools are Pitt, USC, Washington and the likes.

And the only reason birds can fly is because they have wings.

'Historically" is nice, I love our history, but the recent arms race is putting us at much more of a competitive disadvantage than it used to.

We are comparing ourselves with who we COMPETE with for recruits and titles. If you are ok with being the "best small urban school" then that's your prerogative. I think most here want to beat the Bama's etc of the world. But its hard.

How did you extrapolate "being ok" with what I said?
I was merely pointing out that you cannot compare the two due to an amount of differences that are way too any to name.

That was what I responded to.
