ACC revenue Sharing

what I'd like to know is what does UM plan on doing with the additional revenue to improve the football program

We all know we need money to pay for our athletic programs, but most here - cry babies included - sure would like to tip this scale in our favor - ACC 1 NC; SEC 8 NCs in football since 2000 with UM leading the way.

Looks like it pays to be a member of the ACC. This will cast some water on the fires of the crybabies who complain about the general standing of the ACC against the SEC.

Either way....it's nice for the athletic department to get a nice chunk of change.

We need all the revenue we can get, since we lack the best weapon one can have in the current college football arms race: a stadium of our own.

It's doesn't matter how much money we get when the margins are this slim.

It only matters how much exposure we get. Everything else is fluff.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure the athletic program still isn't really profiting much, maybe a couple million per year.

disappointed no one hasn't said "indoor practice facility" or "on campus stadium" yet.

If the school invests in the program not just football but basketball and baseball as well they will generate even greater revenue. Gotta invest in them though to maximize their potential.

I have faith Blake James will do that for all the programs just gotta wait a certain person out.

A stadium is not the best weapon, a stadium does not win football games.

I'd re-shape your quote to say "[w]e need all the revenue we can get, since we lack the best weapon one can have in the current college football arms race: a great coaching staff."

A stadium doesn't "win" games but certainly impacts games. You undervalue the impact of home field advantage. No team fears playing at SLS regardless of the product of the field.

We are still #47 in the nation in revenue and #10 in the ACC in revenue. Any extra money we got this year will be used under the new NCAA rule for unlimited food policy each day, that starts Aug 1st. Plus for the first time Walk-On players will get a free meal from the training table. That is expected to cost from $1M to $2M for just that meal upgrade. Currently the meal plan at the training table consists of two breakfasts, five lunches and four dinners each week for football players.

We're talking financials here bub. Revenue. You realize that, by not having our own stadium, we only keep a % of the revenue generated every home game.
