ACC Coastal Threats?

Who do you think will be our biggest threat when it comes to winning the coastal next year? Duke after losing key players? VT with a new QB? UNC, the team that's always just kinda in the way? GT and the triple option? Virginia, the scrubs that somehow always play us tough? Or Pitt who had some very talented freshman last year?

Louisville.
Is Lousiville in the Coastal? What's the ACC looking like next year as far as divisions go?

Louisville will be in the Atlantic replacing outgoing Merryland

VT: No matter who they have at QB. Can't see them being worse than the last two seasons, and we are at Blacksburg. 50-50 shot for us is generous.

UNC: If this was a rebuilding year, and if Fedora is any good, they could pass us by in 2014. They sure improved over the year, and were playing better than us at the end. Could easilly lose, but I'll give us the W at home.

GT: Losing Vlad Lee can't hurt them. They are way overdue to beat us, and are at home. 50-50.

UVA: Awful team, awful coach, but we haven't outcoached or outplayed them yet (under Golden). Gotta say we win, as London will be a lame duck by the time of our game, no win over Miami will save him next year. W

Pitt: Lousy team, slow, uninspired coaching. We win at home. W

Duke: Will not be as good as this year, will not be in the Coastal race by the time we play them, at Miami, we get outcoached but probably win. W

Might as well be in the Coastal, as we play both and nobody else plays either team:

FSU: Loss. L

UL: Loses key players, pwns us in coaching, will be at UL and they have huge confidence, Canes may be demoralized, Loss

Middle case: We lose 1 out of VT, GT, UNC and Duke and go 5-3 (2nd or 3rd in Coastal) OR We lose 2 out of VT, GT, UNC and Duke and go 4-4 (3rd -4th)

Best case: (unlikely) 6-2 2nd in Coastal, maybe somehow 1st

Worst case: 3-5

I say we have to sweep the Coastal teams (6-0) to win it, something the Canes have not even come close to doing in a decade.

We should have won the Coastal when it was awful the last three years. Now we are basically TWO games (FSU and UL) down from the get go.

dammit mane... we're not winning **** under this coaching staff...

Golden I know you and your wife read these blobs... open that **** up and play down south football ******..

Like most years, the biggest threat so us winning the Coastal is ACC Scheduling. Specifically the cross-divisional scheduling system that has us playing FSU and @Louisville while the Jokies play Wake Forest and Boston College. And, considering we'll have Doritos back next year, that's saying something.

Only game I'm counting as a lost next year is fsu the rest we should win
Duke will be our only threat in the coastal which should be a good game that we win

We have never come close to sweeping the awful Coastal teams in a season. If we sweep the Coastal, 6-0, but lose the title due to playing FSU and UL, THEN we have a gripe.

If we lose again to a Duke, UNC or VT, we have ZERO excuses.

UofL isn't going to be good next year 7-5 6-6 type year for them losing teddy was huge he made their team go and the d will take a step back with the lost of the d coordinator and Charlie

They don't have to be good to outcoach and outplay us. I can't see many scenarios where we somehow do a 180 by Labor Day, and UL somehow does a reverse 180 under Petrino by Labor Day.

They have a smart AD and Administration, committed to winning. (They PWN us in baseball, basketball and football already, by a huge margin)

We will beat louisville be 2 tds having duke Johnson but makes all the difference in the world with him we win 10 games easily this year

Louisville loses a lot. Other than how bad they made the U looked in the bowl game they weren't world beaters last year. The bowl game was by far the best game they played all year. Not a definite win by any means but shouldn't be an automatic loss either.

They lose NOTHING in coaching.

That is a huge advantage for UL.

They lost some players on D, our D by all indications will be as bad or worse as 2011, '12 and '13.

They have a new QB who couldn't beat out Teddy, we have a new QB that couldn't beat out Morris. Has to be advantage for UL.

UL advantage in offensive coaching trumps any talent advantage we allegedly have on offense.

UL has home field, confidence and swagger, UM none of that,

I count it as a sure loss, but I hope it is not.

It would be the first sign of comeptance in a long while from our staff, and a necessity for any chance at success in 2014 to win this one.

"It's their Super Bowl" is the default excuse for why lesser/equal teams outplay us.

Well, if you thought UL was motivated in a meaningless Russell Bowl, wait till they come out for their ACC debut against a team they know their kickers can *****slap with impunity.

Heck, maybe their overconfidence will be so great it will be a negative?

Unlikely their players will be unmotivated coming out for a Labor Day ACC debut under Petrino.
