ACC Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2014

Pretty much what I and others have been saying all along. Glad to hear that ACC coaches agreed with us.

That losing Duke hurt an already shaky offense due Morri's erratic play. Which in turn hurt our defense that was already handicapped by less athletically gifted and slow players like Highsmith, Rodgers, Gaines, Green, Cornelius..

That's why I have high hopes for this season.
Healthy Duke with better depth at RB in case he gets hurt.. I believe overall QB play will improve.
And the departing SR defensive players are being replaced with faster more athletic players.
This bodes well for our offensive improving on TOP and 3rd down conversions as well our our defense getting off the field on 3rd downs.

Go Golden Canes.

During the RAB game we were sooo much bigger than Louisville on both sides of the ball, but I could not believe how slow we looked compared to the Cardinals. Louisville reminded me of the 80 & 90s Hurricanes when we would play these big but slow teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan and Cincinnati.

Bingo. Golden still thinks he's in the North East. Hopefully he starts realizing he can get so much more from the defense if he utilizes the speed and athleticism that kids from south Florida provide.

Speed will get a little better but it's not only athleticism that's the problem. The read react **** that golden forces on these kids slows them down. We look slow not just cause some players may be slow, but also the scheme golden runs. Also the bulking of some of the players like chickillo, etc. Golden just isn't taking advantage of the speed being at Miami affords him.

Here are guys that played a lot on defense last year that I would consider slow for their position:
Rodgers
Highsmith
Green
Howard

Gaines and ty? Gaines had horrible stats for a MLB. Howard everyone says is slow, the guy runs a 4.5. and literally won two games for us.

its seems the longer the kids golden recruited have been here, the faster their 40's have been.

But Shannon Is From The South And The Majority Of Slow Players On Last Years Team Were Shannon Recruits. So What U Saying Don't Add up.

Agree with this. I wouldnt exactly call Howard a liability. (which is basically what the poster is saying without actually saying it.) 4.5-4.6 speed is plenty speed for a DB as long as the technique is there. Very few NFL DBs run 4.4s on a consistant basis. ****, Sherman probably runs a 4.55 on his BEST day.

But to take those 5 out of the equation on this defense will help. (Rodgers, Highsmith, Green, Gaines, Cornelius)

This will be our core talented guys 3rd year in this scheme. (meaning Howard/Chick/Bush/Perryman/Kirby/Pierre, etc) If this defense cant turn the corner this year, the scheme is doomed. There are literally no more excuses. The kids SAY they know the scheme to a tee...so Dno and Golden cant say that its still a learning process...All those muthafuggas look big as **** now..so they cant use youth and lack of physicality as an excuse.. they all ran quality 40 times..they all say they are hungry to prove everyone wrong about how bad the defense is...they say its not on Dno its on them...what else is there? Now its time to show and prove and it starts on Sept 1st.

Those comments about Georgia Wreck are spot on. As much as I've complained about Golden, as least we don't have Paul Johnson.
