Can't argue with anything they pointed out.

“Stephen Morris probably hurt them more than he helped them.”…

“They have a good pool of talent, but then I thought offensively they were erratic as Morris was erratic. As long as Duke Johnson was there, it didn’t matter all that much. When you took him out of the equation, they were a little bit like running on one leg.”…

“Defensively, what surprises me is they are not very fast overall as a team. It’s opposite of what you’d expect of a Miami team based on their history.”…

“I just don’t think they are extremely quick or fast on defense, which you’d think wouldn’t be a problem.”…

“Linebacker Denzel Perryman looks the part. Good player.”…

“The offensive line I thought was really, really good - maybe the most talented in the league overall. They have a lot of depth there and should be good again.”…

“They were just kind of surprisingly erratic on defense. The defensive line was just average.”…

“I thought Morris was sometimes a little too emotional as a quarterback. You can’t be up and down. I don’t know how to describe it. He was trying to make plays that aren’t there and wearing his feelings on his sleeve a little bit. I just thought there was some of that going on. He was talented. I don’t know much about his replacement (possibly Ryan Williams), but they need someone who won’t hurt them with bad throws.”…

“Duke Johnson is good enough to erase a lot of problems. He’s special.”…

Everything was pretty accurate. our Defense was slow as ****, with a few fast people. we look like a Miami team now. we have speed at every position. we will be a completely different team this year.

This **** is just depressing and unfortunately blatantly obvious. Watch FSU play D and then watch us, the difference in speed and athleticism is huge

Said it twice. Must be true?

But then again, Duke didn't give up 500 yards a game, so losing him was minimal.

"Morris was erratic"......Yep and before him Jacory, we've had erratic play at the most important position on the field for far too long, God I hope Kaaya is finally the savior. Everything they said about our d-line is true we don't have the talent/depth on the D-line

good honest stuff

This makes me supeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrr sad dude. The reality of our defense is just....sad man. It really is lol. Today has been a crap day of work and I check this site for relief from reality. Damnit man. Ahhhhhhh.

I hope we're better on defense this year, well, hoped...we're slow and unathletic though lmao

Our speed on defense should be a lot faster this year rodgers and green gone giving more time for McCord and Jenkins in the backfield. Not to mention they are saying Jermaine grace is running 4.4 40's

Speed will get a little better but it's not only athleticism that's the problem. The read react **** that golden forces on these kids slows them down. We look slow not just cause some players may be slow, but also the scheme golden runs. Also the bulking of some of the players like chickillo, etc. Golden just isn't taking advantage of the speed being at Miami affords him.

I dont thinking bulking up has been a big issue as a team but i 100% agree about the read and react stuff. Its what makes teams like TCU seem so good. They have the complexity to adapt to different offenses while being simple enough to let the players just play. Its just the nature of the game, defense is more reaction to the offense so that extra .5 seconds can be the difference between getting in the backfield or being a 5 yard gain.

Goes to what everyone has been saying. Give us a QB that can complete 63%+ of his passes, limit dumb mistakes, and lead the team. If we can get that, we'll be fine.

Here are guys that played a lot on defense last year that I would consider slow for their position:
Rodgers
Highsmith
Green
Howard

You can add chick and Gaines to that list . Chick needs to be moved to DT and Gaines is a butterfly with zero wheels

I think those coaches were being kind to us.

Let's face it, when you are running Porter, Robinson/Renfro, Gaines, Cornelius, AJ and Kacy, you are playing 5 versus 11.

Only so much Chick, Shayon/AQM, Denzel, Gunter and Howard can do.

I'm still crackin up on that gif

Think that was Cutcliffe. He praised our OL a bunch before the game last season, and said that our OL looked like an NFL OL.

Spot on remark re: TCU, which always seems to be playing downhill on defense.

Though i do agree that they were slow, FSU is a bad example their scheme has a bunch of DBs on the field
