ACC champ vs at large

You're way too generous in thinking we'd definitely get the 5 seed in that scenario.

The SEC and B1G runner up are more than likely getting the 5 and 6 seeds no matter what happens.

The biased playoff committee values "good losses" as much as they do wins over bad teams. Its just a convenient way to boost the SEC and B1G.

But its also why I wouldn't be surprised if their initial rankings have us behind Clemson, because of their "good loss" to UGA.

Don't be surprised if they have us behind BYU (and 1 or 2 others) either.
While I agree with the premise, I can’t see anyone thinking that was a “good” loss. Had they lost by a TD maybe.

An undefeated ACC team that misses out on the ACC championship game due to a random drawing of straws isn’t getting left out of a 12 team playoff.

If the main goal is to get to the national championship game (not win the ACC), theoretically I would take not making the ACCG assuming we get the 5 seed. You play the same amount of games, open up the playoffs with the 12 seed at home (which will be a team worse than Clemson, the most likely ACCCG opponent), and then play a quarter finals game against the 4 seed which is likely to be the Big 12 winner (Iowa state or K state). That will be a game we are favored in to get to the semifinals.

If we play the ACCCG, even assuming we win and get the bye, there will be a tougher opponent in the quarterfinals as the 3 seed to get to the semis.

Miami goes undefeated, but so do Clemson and SMU in conference.
Miami gets left out of ACC championship game despite higher ranking due to crazy tiebreakers.
Miami still goes to college football playoff.

Miami on mission, wins 6th college football national championship in a magical 16-0 season.
Miami announces they are leaving the ACC for the B1G.

We can all agree the worst case scenario isn’t we win out. Play the ACC ship game. Lose. Then we play the extra game and the extra game in the playoffs. Assuming we still make it in

I will say the hilarious poetic justice would be us going undefeated with our best team in over a decade and then we can’t even play for the ACC ship. We’ve gotten so much crap for not winning that stupid thing. We have to.
This! 5× National Champions but we haven't been able to win the middling ACC once in 20 years. We must win the ACC. I will say this...If we go undefeated in the regular season with this team, we will absolutely not be left out of the ACC title game and I don't care how many asinine tiebreakers get magically conjured up.

Let’s assume this is correct.
Miami is about winning national championships. I want the easiest path to #6. Being the 5 seed and missing the ACC championship means we play the MWC champ. I think that is an easier task than beating Ohio State in round 2. Then we potentially play the big 12 champ (probably Iowa state). Easy win, we are in the final 4. If UM could somehow get past Oregon, we would play either UGA or Ohio State. UM matches up much better against UGA, but I would love to play Ohio State in the championship game. If UM somehow won on a penalty that went our way, what sweet poetic justice it would be.

What pain? There's no pain my friend. It's just simple logic. We've never won the ACC so we cannot waste this opportunity to do so. That and the whole 3 way tie thing is nothing but fear ****. It's possible but not worth worrying about.
Hear me now friends...

the copium pipe is being passed around heavily on CIS right now...

Porsters taking deep man puffs on that heavy good ****...

If/when they come down from that high, shizznizzle gonna get ugly...

So as we know if SMU clemson and Miami continue to win out there is a possibility that Miami would be left out of the ACC Championship game. However if this is the case Miami would most likely make the at large bid and could potentially get the number five seed. In many ways don't you guys think that getting a #5 seed would be better even if we are not ACC champions. this is a much easier route through the playoffs. What are your guys' thoughts

No. No no no no no.

Playing fewer games is good. Playing the lowest seed possible as a 3-seed is good. ****, with a little luck, we might even be a 1 or 2 seed.

**** this "let's be a 5-seed" bull****.

Of course you do Dr. Phillips.......
Canes are not leaving the ACC anytime soon. Certainly not before the early 2030s. Likely never. So we all should want this conference to improve, get a better tv deal and make more money. But I'm sure you are convinced by the brilliant legal team advising FSU that Miami will give notice in July of 2023, no 2024, no 2025 .... right.
