In the past decade, a South Florida RB has been drafted every single year. Nineteen (19) have been drafted total. Kenny McIntosh (Georgia via U-School) will keep the streak going this year.

We always need to take our shot with special backs like Cedric Baxter. But it also important to consistently lock up the top local backs. Mission accomplished with Mark Fletcher and Chris Johnson, Jr.

2022- James Cook (Central)
2021-Khalil Herbert (American Heritage)
2020- Zack Moss (Hallandale)
2019- Devin Singletary (AMH Delray), Jordan Scarlett (U-School), Travis Homer (Oxbridge), Kerrith Whyte (Loxahatchee)
2018- Sony Michel (American Heritage), Mark Walton (Booker T)
2017- Dalvin Cook (Central), Mathew Dayes (Cypress Bay)
2016-Alex Collins (South Plantation), Kelvin Taylor (Glades Day)
2015- Duke Johnson (Norland)
2014- Tre Mason (Park Vista), Devonta Freeman (Central), James White (STA)
2013- Gio Bernard (STA)
2012- Lamar Miller (Killian)

Most of the RBs on that list were RBs many were pounding the table for. Not even the studs like Dalvin Cook, Alex Collins and a late riser like Devonta Freeman that we all knew would be good...but even Matt Dayes, James White, Devin Singletary, and Zack Moss had supporters to get them on this team.

In: Chris Johnson & Mark Fletcher
Out: Rooster & Thad

I’ll take that all day, err day

I will too, but 2 things:

1. We're not gonna **** on Rooster and Thad. Both chose to come here, and at least in Rooster's case, he played hard and provided some big moments.

2. Again, I agree with you 100%. But let's not lose full focus here. You could have made this exact same thread the last 2 years, saying that SFL produces NFL backs, so it's important to take shots, but it's important to lock up local kids like Jaylan Knighton. Then it's important to take shots, but it's important to lock up kids like Thad Franklin. Bottom line, 2 years ago, Rooster and Thad were Fletcher and CJJr. It's time to hit on some of these kids and develop them into NFL players.

Yea I wouldn't be surprised if Lashlee gets Knighton into the NFL to be honest. Maybe not a top 4 or 5 round drat pick but think he will have good stats next year.

Moss was committed but got dropped If I remember right

Don't know if Knighton has the vision to succeed in the NFL. Sure runs into a lot of tackles. Like, he runs into brick walls. He's not that big. Not a good trait going into the NFL. Hope I'm wrong and the kid can go make some money.

Not crapping on them. Agree with you and I thought Rooster was horribly misused in this offense. That said, the ones we’ve recruited that have been hits (Duke, Lamar Miller, Dj Dallas, Homer) were because they put in the work. The ones we missed on had more so to do with their attitude/work ethic (i.e. Thad).

I think he's just someone you get in space. Also miami offensive lines in the past did him no favors. The way people value speed though, he ran a 4.4 in high school if he gets a chance to workout at the combine someone will take a chance and sign him in one of the last rounds or a free agent.

I'm ecstatic about pulling in Fletcher and Johnson. Believe we've got our ideal combo of thunder and lightning.

People have selective memories. Knighton and Franklin were major hauls and this board was overwhelmingly excited about both. I understand why we're disappointed. But those kids both had and have potential to be special if used properly and willing to put in the work.

Agreed, love the additions & hopefully an upgrade over the out-going duo . . . but the real impact comes from the offensive line additions. Not sure any top back can flourish behind a makeshift, banged up OL.

i don't get the Rooster hate on the board. I mean, yes, he fumbled way to much for my liking, but people act like he wasn't a good player for us

We're very fortunate to always have RB talent in our backyard. But it's important to identify that there's different levels to that talent. Evals are important.

Since Duke - our most successful NFL RB's have come outside Dade/Broward - Gus, Homer, DeeJay. Citizen is arguably our most talented RB on the roster now.

Mario isn't scared to recruit Nationally and that's the right mentality to have.
