A&M Vs New Mexico

They reloaded via portal.. have 41 new players just like us. They are not the team from last year.
The difference being that the guys who transferred to Miami were starters and impact players on their previous team. The only guys transferring to New Mexico were scrubs who never saw the field at their old school.

their receivers gonna tear our dbs a new one

Yeah. Usually I’m not a fan of a slow pace.

But with enough plays run in the game, they would win. Because their WRs are just going to be able to create more explosive plays against us than we can against them.

So this might actually be a situation where it makes more sense to slow it down and keep the sample size small.

No one is comparing them to us... just that they are not the team they were last year

They look much better on offense tbh
They look better playing a NM team that was bad last year and appears to be just as bad this year. Then again, they couldn't look any worse than last year, so there's that. I haven't seen anything earth shattering, it's a lot of guys running free because of a lack of speed at NM. That said, I expect Miami to compete at a higher level than NM.

Are you watching the same game as I am?
They’ve clearly outmatched New Mexico but I don’t see an electrifying offense. I see a team with 375 total yards against a bottom 5 FBS team. I’ll give them credit for maximizing their opportunities but they don’t have 49 points because they drove the ball up and down the field. But there’s still ~4 minutes left to pad their numbers.

A&M with another Injury, this time to LB Davis, seemed to have hurt his arm (looks to not be serious)

These penalties for BOTH teams are brutal.

A&M now has 9 for 90 yards (!!!) the lack of discipline (particularly on their D-Line who holds more than half of these penalties) is astounding

Total yards is now

- A&M 413 in 64 plays (6.7 per play)
- NM 221 in 60 plays (3.69 per play)

Last night we were

495 in 61 plays (8.11 per play)
Miami Ohio was 215 in 49 plays (4.38 per play)

We were 3/7 on third down
A&M is also 3/7

NM is 4/14 on 3rd/4th down
Miami Ohio was 2/15

Opponent aside, their game plan looks like a Petrino offense. Their QB is throwing some dimes. Didn’t see that last year. The narrative Jimbo was going to stick to his scheme is over.

Kind of weak for Jimbo to run it up.

Eh. That’s largely driven by starting field position limiting how many yards they can even get.

But they didn’t need it to score. In the rare cases they had bad field position, they still scored.

Also called a timeout to kick a field goal with 1 minute left and a 40+ point lead.

I get what you're saying, but did you see us as having am electrifying offense? I'm not going to diminish what we did, but it was sound football with a lot of out athleting them.

I do think it was also purposeful, at least I hope so. Why bother doing more when what you're doing is simple and effective.

I didn't watch the A&M game, but I expect more offensively and know it's there. We didn't even try and stretch the field.

How much would
Miami of Ohio drop on New Mexico? I can see easily 35-40 points.

I know they went vertical but Miamimis a different beast size wise and both our lines will be disruptive.

I think Guidry will find a way to shut
them down. The offense seems to be churning when it's passing the ball. I think to beat Miami you need to be a balanced offense
and A&M Didnt show that today.

31-21 Miami next week at the Crib

It's not that difficult to throw dimes when you aren't being breathed on and your dudes are running completely free. I doubt that the windows will be this huge in Hard Rock. Miami will need to heat that pocket up and force the QB to make snap decisions. Offensively, Miami has to win up front, and TVD has to be able to spin it like we know he can. That finger has to be full go, if it isn't, I'd strongly consider Emory if Miami gets into trouble.

Miami(OH) is a significantly better team than NM. It's likely the Redhawks cobble together six wins, there's no way NM wins more than 3.

We averaged over 8 yards per play against a much better defense. ATM averaged 6.7 They also ran more plays than Miami and finished with 80 fewer yards. They were more efficient in the red zone but once again, against one of the worst teams in the country.
