**** the UF student gov trying to get the trophy back, great response by our people

Im 17,went to my first Canes game when I was 8. It was the Tennessee game when ST muffed the punt to lose the game or something like that. But anyways, I know more about the Canes than most of the adult Canes fans I know do. I know all about the Flop and what not. I hate the Gaytors just as much, if not, more than you guys do. But that's mostly because of the arrogant Gaytor fans that live around here. But hey, just because I'm young, don't mean I don't know the history of the UF/UM Rivalry.

Son, that loss had nothing to do with Sean Taylor being unable to field a punt that he was asked to return for a TD in the last minutes of the game (after not being on PR duty all game) because our pathetic offense couldn't score a freaking touchdown against Tennessee at home. #Cokerbation

In 2011, the UF Student Government approved a resolution, which was sent to UM student body president Christina Farmer, ESPN and the head football coaches at each school, requesting the War Canoe's return to UF since they had won the 2008 contest. In response, Brandon Mitchell, president of UM's Category 5 spirit club, replied: "The War Canoe was intended for the yearly rivalry and . . . Miami won the final game of that yearly rivalry." The Trophy remains at the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame

so hypothetically, technically, and realistically... we own those MFers no matter what.

lol i didnt even know that.... B. Mitchell pulled a OG move on Florida.

Here is the 1980 game. We were up 28-7 at the end of the game, but UF fans were pelting our sideline with ice and oranges. In retaliation, Schnelly called a timeout and kicked a FG to make it 31-7.

Ask 10 Gators about their NCAA history and I guarantee you that 9 will not know anything about it. Just in case you want to educate our "rivals" , read on:

NCAA Enforcement Department
UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA PLACED ON NCAA PROBATION

(2 Years NO TV, 2 years NO Bowl, 20 ships over 2 years)

NCAA violations that were found in the case included
cash inducements to prospects,
cash and other benefits to enrolled student-athletes,
complimentary ticket sales for enrolled studentathletes,
outside funds that were maintained and administered contrary to NCAA rules by the
former head football coach and a former administrative assistant,
the arrangement of cost-free room and board for "unaided" student-athletes,
the secret scouting of football opponents,
the conduct of out-of-season football practices and
the use of an excessive number of coaches to recruit.

In announcing the Council's action, Mr. Toner stated that the violations in this case appeared to
represent a deliberate and calculated effort on the part of the university's football coaching staff
over a five-year period to do anything necessary to achieve a superior football record.
The
program did, in fact, enjoy a meteoric rise from a 0-10-1 record in 1979 to four consecutive
postseason football bowl game appearances, national rankings and the university's first
Southeastern Conference championship in history in 1984.

"Unfortunately, during the five-year period in which the violations occurred," continued Mr.
Toner, "the football coaching staff operated unimpeded by any effort being exerted by the
university's director of athletics or any other administrative authority at the university to assure
control of the football program. Due to this fact, as well as the serious nature of many of the
violations in this case, the Committee on Infractions and the Council considered this to be among
the most serious infractions cases ever processed by the NCAA.

is this a shirt?

Lets please call them by their proper names it is not gators, but GayTurds and not uf but OOF. FUUUUUUUUUCK THOSE OOF GAYTURDS!

Calling them that is lowering yourself to their level just don't ever Capitalize gators, don't lower yourself to their fans level.

I was at Flop game sitting in 8th row above end zone.
I was at 75 game when they scored winning TD on punt return when the return man fielded punt with knee on ground and SEC refs let it stand.
I was at 78 game when we were boarding train in Waldo ducking beer bottles.
I was at game in 80 when the oranges flew the ENTIRE game not just at end and Coach Christ Vagotis was lying out cold after being hit in head by bottle with 45 seconds left, that is why Howard kicked FG
I was at game in 82 when it was so hot the gator vendors under stands wouldn't sell to canes fans until they sold to gator fans first.

Ny first game ever was 63 freshman game vs gators so I have been a gator hater since then, so no to the 17 year old who knows as much or hates as much as older fans.

Thank you. The games in Gainesville in that mid '70s through early '80s era featured subhuman behavior by Gator fans. Don't let anyone pretend otherwise. Nothing in the Orange Bowl remotely approximated it. I could provide countless examples of my own. Here's one: Two Gator fans with a large grocery bag emerged from a ramp and stood directly in front of Canes fans. I watched them and wondered what was going on. They proceeded to grab hard mini Frisbees from the bag and wing them as hard as they could directly into the face of Canes fans seated only yards away. Little old ladies were ducking for cover. Two Canes fans finally tackled them. That's the type of thing that was going on in that era. The younger fans have no clue. And it was similar at a game I attended in 1982 when my school USC played at Gainesville. I was eating at a pizza restaurant with a buddy the night before the game. We were wearing USC shirts. That was our crime. When our pizza was delivered a drunk Gator fan thought it was remarkably clever to walk to our table, grab the pizza, and then dump it upside down on the floor. He returned to his table and initiated an orange/blue chant with fellow lowlife Gator fans.

No description of that school or that fan base is harsh enough.
